Never thought I'd say this, but it might be time for all of us to consider a contribution to the 1870 Society. We're absolutely on fire right now, and it's eventually gonna piss everyone else off enough to change the rules. Gotta ride this wave so long as it's legal, and fucking own it. Don't let the other blue bloods up for air.
I'll pass. tOSU and the rest of the B10 schools are about to get paid somewhere north of 100million/year each with the new TV deal. (don't make me prove it, you're wasting your time). Yet with whatever number of millions tOSU gets, they don't, or, aren't allowed to give it to the players and somehow we fans are supposed to "chip in"? No thanks.
I get what you're saying but tOSU and the others have plenty of $$$. They're laughing all the way to the bank. Let them start thinking of creative/legal ways to part with it. They are the beneficiaries in all of this.
Side note: Kinda makes you wonder how just a few years ago we always seem to miss out on all the southern players to the SEC. They're rats, including S@b@n. Did he quit because his advantage was gone? lol.
Michigan. lol.
PSA: grayed out comments get read the most. Thanks!
Powell, I'm mostly with you. Which is why I stick to buying the trading cards sponsored by 1870. 10% of packs have a signed card, I got a signed Mike Hall card out of one. I'm not crazy about "donating", I have to get something out of it. I feel like these kids have the world at their feet as is.
But if Ohio State football is on top of the world, I consider that a good thing for me personally. OSU football has carried me through many dark times.
Beast - I have been considering making a monthly donation. Do we know if one of the NIL groups supports football above the other sports. I have seen 1870 is supported by 11W.
THE. For sure, it’s THE Foundation. If I’m putting my money down, I’m doing it with the group that partnered with the last QB to win the National Championship for OSU.
Idk brother, Hartline has been here longer but Walton might have him. I don’t recall Hartline cleaning up in the south/south east. Walton’s guys have seemed to improve faster too. (Rich people problems) Either way, the man should be celebrated.
I didn't include Tate in my rebuttal to him cause he's from Chicago. Those IMG guys have roots everywhere and to assume they are FL based on thought would be wrong

Hope I am wrong about him and Sanchez and that both make it all the way to commit.

I didn't want him fired but the corners performance in 22 left me feeling like the Bobs from Office Space "What would you say you do here?" Obviously it was just the transition to a new coach and new scheme being a little bumpy but he has that ironed out now and is really cooking.
Those Southern cats REALLY seem to jive with Tim Walton. His value is priceless, the Hartline of defense! I wonder if Walton will start tag-teaming with LJ and haul in some five-star 300+ DTs from the deep south (AK, MS, AL, LA)???

We’ve also seen with the WRs that some aren’t going to live up to their rankings coming out of high school. It’s good for the law of averages. Swinging and missing doesn’t hurt the program when the odds are some are going to be great. It’s basically what Bama and UGA does.
It was either Kevin Noon or Tom Orr the other day that mentioned a player (Donte Wheat) from all the way back in 1981 that Earle Bruce signed from the state of Alabama. According to their research, he never played, although he was referenced in a media guide.

Playing Devil's advocate to those worried that Offord is just going to flip in November or December:
It seems like Walton is developing a brand that recruits and families alike really like. Getting a spot in the class, then, isn't so much a trendy social media moment as much as a good business decision. He's going to have other recruits itching to get in. Recruits that wait too long will get passed up. Would Offord have a spot in November if he didn't commit? Probably, but why risk it if you know what you like?
Offord has a spot anywhere in the country anytime he wants it. This recruitment just sets the floor that others in the south have to meet. NIL will be the only thing that takes Offord away and Ohio State has shown that they are now strong there also.
This is simply incredible news. So very important. Welcome young man. This is what it's all about. Win with us and follow your dreams into being among the best in the NFL. Thank you coach Walton.

We always hear excuses that all the road graders/Big uns are in the south and that we can't get them. Why is that??? DBs and WRs seem to be wide open to us. Is it because we don't work at it, especially early?? Is it effort, philosophy and emphasis? Personality differences within the staff?? Don't want them at their size?? Position number limits? Running game and stopping the run not prioritized??
Not complaining. Stating facts and numbers. Super glad to have these super players. Just stating the obvious. Football is not ALL perimeter. That may be a foreign thought to inexperienced WEs.
With what Day and staff are putting together, I expect two nattys, minimum, in the next five years. No excuses, go win the hardware and put your feet on the scumbags of Ann Arbor's necks.
Great news but until December comes, I won't believe it until he signs. I hope it not the " I committed" then go shopping which seems to happen too often. One of reasons Hafley and Saben got out and you will see more coaches do the same. What a great of group of DB's.

Only you would come in and complain about DL recruiting in a DB boom thread
Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here!
Not complaining. Stating facts and numbers. Super glad to have these super players. Just stating the obvious. Football is not ALL perimeter. That may be a foreign thought to inexperienced WEs.
According to Kirk Barton, it’s because linemen are all momma’s boys. They want to stay close to home. It’s why Iowa got the Bama transfer this year.
Fuck those cheating fucks.
Great pick up. Trying to find other football recruits from the state of Alabama that went to Ohio State.

I'm as excited about Offord as anyone, but these are words written every year about this time.
Seems like when 33 posts THE on Twitter (X), something good is going to happen.

With what Day and staff are putting together, I expect two nattys, minimum, in the next five years. No excuses, go win the hardware and put your feet on the scumbags of Ann Arbor's necks.

If not now, when?
Offord's from just up the road from me.

17-5 since 2001!
But 1-3 since 2019 REALLY SUCKS!
Great news but until December comes, I won't believe it until he signs. I hope it not the " I committed" then go shopping which seems to happen too often. One of reasons Hafley and Saben got out and you will see more coaches do the same. What a great of group of DB's.
BOOOM!
