I think that I would have moved on quicker from the Oregon loss if it wasn’t for the OPI penalty. It is never great when officiating decides a game.
One way to look at it. We didn’t lose, we just ran out of time.

I disagree with Coach Day on one item.
This game should absolutely be a wakeup call. We will struggle against good teams if we don't get a pass rush. Gabriel had all day to throw the ball. Whatever it takes...make the QB uncomfortable and hit him a time or two.
Still ticked about the OPI penalty. The refs allowed physical play the entire game and then decide to throw a flag with 30 seconds left? It reminded me of the hose job the Bengals got against the Rams in the Super Bowl.
Not to mention, he is described as a hard worker.
The Georgia secondary is good at cheap shots (maybe I’ll get over the hit to Harrison someday) but aren’t great at covering WRs.
I haven’t watched Williams, only his few highlights. Not sure how good he is at route running but he does put up some nice numbers.
Well, when 40% of your OL gets injured in the first half, what are your expectations?
How can Frye recruit 5 stars when they suddenly get dropped to three stars???
Covid Year.
Simpleman got it.
If Day was at Alabama or LSU, he could also have a NC on his resume. Football in the SEC just means more.
One of those games was decided by cheating. Also an interception that wasn't called, giving Michigan a TD.
The other three games were decided by poor officiating calls.
Clemson: Targeting call on Wade. Scoop and score overturned.
Georgia: Given first down after a fourth down stop. Overturned targeting call.
In these games, the correct call was made on the field. The reply officials stopped play to overturn the call on the field.
Oregon: OPI call (when the officials weren't calling anything the entire game). They decide to toss a flag with 30 seconds left???
Illegal participation penalty: Should have been 15 yards as an unsportsmanlike conduct foul.
Other than that, I am not angry or bitter at all. ;)
I believe that he was upset that he wasn't given serious consideration to be the head coach after O'Brien left.
Definitely need some OTs and DTs.
Not overly worried about their ranking as long as they are athletic and move well. The rest can be taught.
I could have sworn that Bill was going to quit coaching if players got paid.
Guess he looked at that paycheck and thought...well, maybe not. LOL.
Simmons has one more year of eligibility to use, even if he hadn't gotten injured against Oregon.
Proving intent is easy. Once the ball is snapped and there are 12 players participating in the play, flag for 15 yards. If a player is trying to get off the field and is a step or so from getting off, five yard penalty with no time off the clock (dead ball foul).
Perhaps she and Burke should have hit the medical tent and had a session during the game. Mathews could have covered for him a couple of series.
Absolutely could use some more creativity on defense. Where are the stunts? Make the offensive line have to figure out who to block in less than half a second.
This may get me down-voted into oblivion but, hey, not the first time, right?
Is Larry Johnson trying to get Coach Knowles fired because he doesn't like the idea of playing the Jack? Is Johnson "marking his territory" by playing the same way, with the same set, game after game.
Coach Day is the only guy that can fix this. He demoted Coombs in 2021 because our defense was terrible. Why should LJ get a pass? His DL has underperformed, for the most part, since 2019 and having Williams off the field during important moments is inexcusable. Either get it together or let somebody else decide the DL rotation.
If 12 men are used intentionally, should be 15 yards.
Ohio State will make the CFP field unless they lose 3 games.
We have played four WRs mostly. Ballard has gotten chances and not done well. Rodgers got the opportunity against Iowa and only had one catch while playing around 40 snaps.
It has been a while. Thankfully, Ohio State has two weeks to prep whoever they decide upon. Can’t hurt to give it a shot if nobody else is ready yet.
Hopefully this is a wakeup call for Burke. He needs to refocus and trust his technique. He got burned looking into the backfield expecting to jump the route and get an interception. The Oregon WR ran right by him.
Move Jackson to LT and put Austin S. back at LG. Austin played well enough there earlier in the season.
If it doesn't work, move Jackson back and put someone else at LT.
I would usually agree with that but Austin played very well at LG when Jackson was out so I am not overly concerned with the change of the LG. If Jackson can be serviceable at LT, I think it is worth a shot.
We shall see how the coaches view things when we take the field against Nebraska.
Comparing Day to Holtmann is a pretty bold take.
As you stated, from Oral Roberts on, the BB team underachieved mightily under Holtmann. But it wasn't like Holtmann was winning close to 90% of his games. His team was bottom dwellers his last 2 years and couldn't win after January 1 to save their lives.
Michigan (with 3 years of verified cheating), Missouri (we could go into all the reasons our offense was neutered before the game even started), Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, and Oregon have beaten Day at Ohio State. Day has never lost to an unranked opponent.
All I am saying, be careful what you wish for. Nebraska was irate with Solich and Pelini because 9-3 wasn't good enough. They made changes and it has taken close to 20 years to get back to decent again with Rhule. Not all change works out for the better.
If Johnson wasn't here, Knowles would be using the Jack position to pressure QBs and create some defensive havoc.
