It makes me wonder, though: where the hell is Lou Holtz, right now?

I think Ramzy's talent would be wasted and not appreciated as much as a POTUS candidate.
Exactly, Stantmann. Great point! Tressel and Meyer would lose the head-scratcher vs Iowa or Purdue, but they would play loose vs top 5 teams. This is where Day's similarities with John Cooper are real: in big games the players can sense the pressure and nervousness of the head coach, and it translates on the field. I'm not sure how that can ever change, once that label is stuck on him. "He chokes in big games."
Sort of on that subject: I love the biography of one of my favorite musicians, trumpeter Herb Alpert, who got his start in the USC Trojan marching band. I didn't find this factoid out until Google, decades later.
How telling was Josh Fryer's pre-game comment, "I hate playing in big games."? That right there tells you the mentality of the players. I think the players sense the stress in coach Day and it translates to playing tight. Not good.
The only band I knew for sure that was from Ohio was the Ohio Players, from Dayton. LOL. I love the O' Jays, too. I remember seeing them on Soul Train when I was a kid in the 70s.
I didn't realize they were from Ohio.
you DON'T want to see the day opposing fans DON'T rush the field after beating Ohio State.
Great fuking point!
All three goals are the same and ALL are still in play, as they were before the start of the season:
- Beat Michigan,
- Win the B1G Championship,
- Win the national championship.
I refuse to give up on this team. In 2014 it was "BELIEVE." If you Negative Ned's and Nancy's are so sure that Ohio State is going to lose, why bother watching? Go play pickleball instead when the Buckeyes play, or something. Have some balls and support your team. We always play better as dogs, which we'll probably be against PSU.
I think you need to get laid, Dill. I cannot identify one time where you've been positive on anything to do with the Buckeyes? Maybe you did and I just missed it?
I wasn't at the game. But I did read about one 11W poster that was, and he said "it was so loud, it was a miracle Will could get the snap off successfully." Say what you want about PSU fans, but they bring the juice at home games. Well, so do Oregon fans. I watched Gameday for the first time in a while, and at 6 a.m. (P T.), their fans were already jacked, like I've never seen. It was still dark outside, there. And It didn't matter that their stadium only held around 60,000. They were LOUD. Tip of the hat.
These Buckeyes can still accomplish all their goals. Losing to Oregon hurts. Losing a veteran O-lineman hurts. But we lost two starting QBs in 2014, a much more critical position. Going back decades, the Buckeyes always play better as underdogs. We'll probably be dogs going into the PSU game.
Keep your head up Buckeyes. We were right there, if not for a questionable call at the end. As in 2014, I think this loss identified areas needed for improvement. And that loss to VT, 35-21, was in Ohio Stadium, so ..
Can we please stop acting like we were just curb stomped by Maryland???
Agreed. Can we please stop acting like we were just curb stomped by Maryland or Vanderbilt????
I watched ESPN GameDay for the first time in a while, and I was shocked with how jacked their fans were at 6 a.m. (P.T.). I'll bet they rival the level of the PSU fans in Happy Valley.

We need Forrest.
I agree with some of the comments. It's not like we lost to Vanderbilt. That is a tough place to play. The crowd, even though comparatively small, seemed loud as hell.
I'm offended by your "slack jawed droolers" comment and demand an apology.
That's pretty kewl TOs can carry over!
It's Marotti. And before you jump out of your shorts, Marotti is no speed coach. He's a loud mouthed out of shape high school gym coach. He's brings nothing to the table with respect to speed
OMG. You can't see it now, but I'm rolling my fuking eyes. Seriously? Don't stop at Marotti. I think the water boy deserves some blame, as well. And the equipment driver. And Brutus Buckeye and the cheerleaders really need to get their shit together. And Mrs. Day deserves some blame too. If they all would have done a better job...
I don't know if the "12th man intentional penalty" by Oregon was genius or not. It worked out for them in this instance, I guess. We would not have been in that desperate situation had our defense played better throughout the game. This loss is squarely on Knowles and the defense. Zero sacks and zero turnovers for the D is the second most important stat of the game. Our DBs getting burned repeatedly is the first worse stat of the game.
I don't blame Will Howard, at all. This loss is squarely on the defense. Very little pressure. No sacks. They didn't tackle well. I said before the game that our DBs were the most important position group in the 11W poll. Well... they got roasted. This is definitely not the #1 defense. 31 points should be enough for victory. And now our already thin O-line is down a starter.
We'll be the underdogs going into Happy Valley. We only win championships when we're dogs.
Voyager. Resistance is futile.
Those hating on Howard are idiots. He picked up nice gains and first downs with his feet that McCord or Devin Brown are completely incapable of. This loss was totally on the soft defense and one player in particular.
