As a fan it 100% is a 3 game regular season, but as a realist it really is a 2 game regular season. Michigan is just actually a bad team IMO. This isn't a top 5 in the nation, four team playoff caliber team coming to Columbus. This is a fringe top 25 team who MIGHT win 8 games.
Nothing easy about the remaining schedule. The only thing TOSU has left "no doubt about" is that we have our backs up against a wall and there is no room for error. Take nothing for granted. Work hard and get mean. Go Bucks!
This season comes down to the coaches being able to coach-up the O-line with Simmons out along with Chip being able to call plays to hide the weaknesses of the O-line. I believe the defense will be fine. Knowles will (and better) figure it out.

That's an interesting take after last Saturday. The offense wasn't the problem in that game, even after the OL injuries.
One thing I have found to be silly...I think maybe 90% of this site and probably other sites all picked Oregon pre-season to win this game and then OSU to win the rematch. I get reconsidering it in the wake of Oregon having some down games, but expectation wise they are pretty much right on track. Yet everyone hits the panic button.
If you take everything I’ve accomplished in my life and condense it down to one day, it looks decent!
Exactly. It was pretty much unanimously agreed on this site during the summer that Ohio State could lose the Oregon game and still win the conference and national championship.
Buckeye fans are unrealistic and fickle. They can’t win every game. The season isn’t doomed. I’d much rather be in Ohio State’s shoes than anyone else in the conference and possibly nationwide.
Food for thought--would it be the worst thing to win out but miss the B1G CCG?
Cons: No Big Ten championship this year (obviously a serious negative)
Pros: near-guarantee of being the 5th seed in the CFP. That means playing the token G5 team in round 1 and either the ACC or B12 champ in round 2 of the playoffs instead of someone like Oregon, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, etc.
Personally I want another crack at Oregon in Indy, but that 5 seed wouldn't be a bad consolation prize.
No, it wouldn't be the worst thing, as long as we win out. But as outlined in the article above, it would require Wisconsin and/or Illinois winning out, neither of which is going to happen.
If we don't make the B1G championship, that means we lose another regular season game, and that just won't do.
They would play a home game in the CFP too. The bye is mostly irrelevant, the extra game in the playoffs, but no extra game in the Cnference Championship Game (CCG). If you are the loser in the CCG, it is a huge disadvantage. You play an extra game, then play in the qualifying round in the CFP.

Good point. I think we will see a rearrangement of the seeding after the first year because of this. The current seeding structure could make losing a CCG a brutal disadvantage, especially for the SEC & B1G runners-up.
Weirdly, the worst case scenario is to go to the conference championship game (the facto CFP prelims), then lose. You play the extra game (conference championship) but then don't get the bye and have to play 3 play-off games to win the Natty for a total of 4 games. Winning the conference or being #3 will only make you play a total of 3 games to the Natty. The only consolation would be if the Conference Championship game loser gets ranked higher than the team who sat out and gets a better seeding.
It would totally suck, as the Big Ten championship is very important and one of the team's stated goals. The season is incomplete without the conference title. Ohio State hasn't won one since 2020, so it would be nice to get one soon (yeah, I know TSUN cheated).
The article helps explain why it's ridiculous to have 18 teams in the conference and not play 8 of them every seaosn.
They controlled their own destiny on that last drive too. Until they didn’t. Bogus 12 man move and a dubious ref decision controlled it for them.
sometimes it is just easier to play as the underdog mindset and just pull off some crazy unpredictable stunts.
come on coaches. Let your hair down!
Just keep getting better and things will work out. Sometimes a loss is the best thing that can happen and hopefully this team plays like their backs are against the wall. I will say we still are and continue to be a bad match up for Penn St. I said before the season started it'd take very good skill players to be able to exploit this defense. Penn st does not have that and their main target by far is a tight end
I think we beat Oregon 7 out of ten times in Indy. Lots of ifs and buts from last week. But, I don’t think Burke will get toasted like that again. The d got a wake-up call. And no more cheap tricks from lanning .
The Buckeyes are currently ranked 4th and that is after a 1 point loss to Oregon and some of yous are behaving like The Buckeyes season is over.
If you are one of the yous thinking the season is over because The Buckeyes lost by 1 point to Oregon, please understand that you would have never survived 1988-2000.
Maybe toughen up and whatnot.
I’m not going to stop believing in the 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes.
Any team that deliberately takes a penalty with 12 players to burn seconds off the clock is not above throwing a game on purpose to Wisc or Illinois in order to avoid another game against Ohio St on neutral field. Just sayin'.
I'm still saying the rival needs to be looked at as a threat. I know who they look like on TV, but I'm telling you there is a formula there that if executed perfectly could beat any team. If the rival is healthy the last game of the year, and they're conditioned, and if the conditions aren't great as far as the weather, the rival could force the Buckeyes to fist fight in a phone booth for four quarters, and if they make it a brawl and the Buckeyes can't change the pace of the game the rival could wear them down and pound the rock in the fourth quarter.
I hate seeing articles and comments referring to the rival as being passe, I'm telling you, if that team executes on the right day and they're ready to go four quarters they're going to be very tough to beat, I don't care how many losses they have.

With me what you see is what you get. But some people don’t like what they see. If you’re going to have a defense of role players, then you better have a defense of players who truly understand their roles. Do your job.
If you can’t make a fourth and one, you don't deserve to win.
Two months ago, I wonder what people would say if you opined that halfway through the season, Indiana would be sitting at the top of the Big Ten Conference.

Win and you’re in. The rest is for the podcasts to talk about.
It has always been a 3-game regular season, it sucks to start 0-1 but it was the toughest one.
Penn State is a must win. Let's see what this team is made of with all of the pressure on them on the road. Kind of feels like 2014 MSU

Agreed. My back hurt for days after I passed out in a cornfield.
There's a few different directions this might go next. As for my part, I'll just +1UV for the lol and let it go at that.
Probably best. :-)

And no offense that the Bucks will face has the firepower Oregon does.

The Buckeyes can win out if the defense will play up to their ability. They are the better team in every remaining matchup.
No way Wisconsin wins out. I'd give Illinois a 5% chance of winning out.

It would be hilarious to see what will be a 4-4 Michigan team beat Oregon. Michigan sucks, but Oregon blew their wad last Saturday. It could happen.
