Neither do I, but let's be realistic: going undefeated is extremely rare, which is why it's such a big deal when it occurs. So I don't expect it, but enjoy it when it does occur. Outsized expectations just bring outsized disappointments. Oregon was always a game that we realistically could have lost. We (the fanbase) just got our expectations a bit too worked up from Oregon's struggles at the beginning of the season. They've obviously corrected them.

But with Zen in, were they able to run it as effectively as they wanted? Past games, the Lt side was getting a heavy dose of run, because Simmons was playing at elite level. Not surprised that the run game sorta petered out a bit after losing both Tegra and Simmons.
Concur. I'd rather lose tough close games to folks we are expected to be in a dog fight with, than to lose a game out of left field.
Our fan base is so toxic. Even if we won on Saturday, people would find something to rage about. Some people just don't want to be happy.
Because there is a difference between a "wake up call" and "identifying areas in need of improvement." I personally don't think this was a "wake up call" because going into the game, the staff knew this was going to be a very tough game. A "wake up call" is when you get totally blindsided in a game that NO ONE forecasted that you had any chance of losing. I'd call the Purdue and Iowa losses a few years back "wake up calls." I'd consider the Alabama loss to Vandy a "wake-up call." A one point road loss to a team a Top 3 team we were only forecasted to beat by three is not a "wake up call."
I thought that was CJ not Caleb?
Weirdly, the worst case scenario is to go to the conference championship game (the facto CFP prelims), then lose. You play the extra game (conference championship) but then don't get the bye and have to play 3 play-off games to win the Natty for a total of 4 games. Winning the conference or being #3 will only make you play a total of 3 games to the Natty. The only consolation would be if the Conference Championship game loser gets ranked higher than the team who sat out and gets a better seeding.
He did well in Pass Protection, but did you notice the run game dropped off precipitously after Simmons got hurt?
Desmond is an idiot too.
Same. I think his issues early in the season were inexperience at a position he's never played before. In that case, you tend to have to think more than you would with a lot of playing time under your belt. I also take that statement as he's feeling more comfortable and not having to think as much as simply play instinctual.
I'll take 4 thrown TD's to 1 INT all day long. If he does that every game, he wins the Heisman (or at the very least gets invited to NY). People are way too critical of him. He's plays like a veteran, had poise in the pocket and doesn't get rattled. After watching the Syracuse vs UNLV game, I'm reminded why McCord just wasn't it....
Exactly. These polls infer where teams are slotted even when the CFP takes over.
So is Herbie
I watched McCord's game against UNLV and remembered why we were not sad he left....
A&M has accomplished $$$
