At least Day hasn't had the let down games Freeman has. Can you imagine what our fan base would do if Day lost to Northern Illinois? Or Louisville (last year)?

Agreed. We will soon find out how good Ryan Day is. He’s got a 20 million dollar war chest and a dream team coaching staff. I’m willing to let this loss slide, but if we underwhelm and aren’t playing in January, Mike Vrabel better take his phone off vibrate mode.
Not ready to be out on Day yet. Not sure he'll ever deliver the big one but he's not embarassing us with losses to NIU or Vandy.
That said Vrabel is NEVER coming here to be any sort of coach. He's expressed that he doesn't like everything that comes with the college coaching requirements specifically the recruiting courtship stuff. He literally said it on Bussin with the boys a few montsh ago
BS. People like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs who led the creation of whole industries and created wealth for millions of people absolutely earned what they got. There are few people walking this planet who can do what Warren Buffet with Charles Munger have done. My IRAs are eternally grateful for people like them. Same for doctors, scientists and others who have come up with amazing inventions.
This idea that people have that anyone can do what people like these have accomplished is just flat out wrong and they definitely have EARNED what they get paid.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
The only thing I have to say about all the people who entertain the “FIRE” day is 1 going undefeated is really hard and 2 who do you want to replace him that will be better or even just as good
And the thing is vrabel is overly passive and dosent like to recruit and I don’t know enough about Matt ruhle but also fickle hasn’t been the best for Wisconsin this year and have heard some of my family and friends that they didn’t like some of the things he didn’t but I also don’t know enough about him
I knew that sooner or later someone would roll out the claim that Vrabel doesn’t like to recruit. Has anyone posted an actual quote from Vrabel in which he explicitly shows his disdain for recruiting?
Fickell will probably be on the market within a couple seasons and is probably best suited for the DC position at a top tier school or HC at a G5 program. Ruhl has a 57-51 record as an NCAAF head coach with only 3 winning seasons in 8.
I knew that sooner or later someone would roll out the claim that Vrabel doesn’t like to recruit. Has anyone posted an actual quote from Vrabel in which he explicitly shows his disdain for recruiting?
He said it on an episode a few months back of the Bussin with the Boys podcast with his former players from when he was HC of Titans.
Ruhl has a 57-51 record as an NCAAF head coach with only 3 winning seasons in 8.
That is such an unfair and misleading interpretation of his skills and talent as a HC and you know it. He's routinely taken over dumpster fires and turned them into viable winning programs. He's doing it again with Nebraska. That's how you know he can build a legit program he's shown it at multiple locations. Something Day has never had to do. Idk that i'd necessarily want him over Day but he would be a great option walking into this war chest not even having to rebuild.
Exactly this. Everytime you ask the question from the fire Day crowd this question all you hear is crickets. Make your own opinion about those types of people.
I cant defend Day anymore until he proves he can win a big game. He will have superior talent in every game he plays this season. He certainly gets credit for building that roster, but $20MM in NIL money doesn’t hurt.
Just have your team prepared to execute and dont get outcoached. You should win every game. Oregon is your mulligan.
Day got his azz handed to him from a coaching standpoint the other night. Even w what felt like we never in control, we still had a chance to win that game in the end. And he blew it. If he overrode Kelly as some have speculated, he went against what said he would do. If Chip in fact called those last 2 plays, and Day went w it, he went against what he’s supposed to do. In the end, he didn’t manage the game.
OG- My Father in-law and I said the EXACT same thing before that game. They even brought an MGM betting consultant on the pregame that told everyone to bet on the Bucks. We had a very bad feeling when that happened.
Because it's true. I wish I could convince Buckeye nation to NOT bet on the next big game. Definitely NOT during the playoffs. But, people have the right to throw their $ away.
At the bottom is Brian Bohannon at Kennesaw State. He will 'only' make $387K this season. At least he should be able to afford a membership at the 1922 Club.
If you told Woody Hayes the head football coach at Ohio State was making ten, he’d probably tell you the university could do a little better than that. Twenty THOUSAND is about right.
It’s frankly embarrassing what universities and athletic departments spend on sports… and then turn around and ask $14 for a refillable fountain soda at the stadium.
A college girlfriend was Woody’s neighbor in UA. Her dad was a pharmaceutical salesmen and would have been considered upper middle class. I assume that Woody was comfortable and had a certain amount of wealth that’s probably on par with that of an assistant coach at a good program. A B1G coach today is very wealthy after fulfilling a single contract.

Day is definitely a better HC than Riley and although Dabo did earn some hardware, I wouldn't trade Day for him under any circumstances.

I noticed some were starting to make the comparison to James Franklin after Saturday. That's not really accurate, Franklin put some time in at Vandy.
He's more of a rich man's Marcus Freeman. Inherited a program.
At least Day hasn't had the let down games Freeman has. Can you imagine what our fan base would do if Day lost to Northern Illinois? Or Louisville (last year)?

And yet Day has never lost to either of those guys.
Question is; is he earning it?

I mean other than Kirby who is making way more, look at the other names in the Top 5 and try to argue with it.
If you take everything I’ve accomplished in my life and condense it down to one day, it looks decent!
He has a record of 8-6 against top 10 teams - for a 57.1% success rate, and a record of 2-6 against top 5 teams.
Yeah, we will see how long three of those losses actually count.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!

I wouldn't trade Coach Day for any of the higher paid coaches. All of them have some kind of issue.
My favorite team? Whoever is playing TTUN.
Day does too. Winning games that matter.
Maybe this will get Day to look in the mirror. The only constant is change. If he doesn’t change [something], someone will change it for him.
I’m sorry, I can’t hear hippies. - Ron Swanson
With a $32M buyout, I wouldn't be having a lot of sleepless nights if I got fired.

I don’t believe for one second you wouldn’t trade Day for Smart. I like Day but Smart has done way more.
I wouldn't. Would you really trade Day and all the players for Smart, all his players AND the garbage in that program?
My favorite team? Whoever is playing TTUN.
I am glad Ryan Day is not out on the sidelines pushing opposing players.
Well Smart did do his best impression of Woody Hayes this past Saturday, so he's got that going for him.
Hoping Day can continue fine tuning his staff and get the defense straightened out.

Considering taxes and cost of living, Day makes more than Lincoln and Sark has to live in Texas. Day is the clear winner there.
Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming do not have income taxes.
State taxes; residents of the listed states still pay Federal taxes.
The Velvet Frog
My comment about having to live in Texas had nothing to do with taxes.
As a former resident of Texas I completely got the gist of your comment.

10 million dollars coach ..coaching a 3 million dollar college team.
What has happened to college football
Sports gambling & NIL. $ corrupts everything. When I heard 82% of the $ wagered on the game was on the Buckeyes, I had a bad feeling.

I could have sworn that Bill was going to quit coaching if players got paid.
Guess he looked at that paycheck and thought...well, maybe not. LOL.

Fans that say Day can’t win a big game and Michigan cheated overlap 100%
I mean both things could be true. He struggles in big games (not just TCUN) and they cheated. For the record I don’t want him fired at all.
No Head Coach should be making anywhere near that type of money. Pay the players and give them a better piece of the pie.
