Born and raised in Lorain, Buckeye fan since I can first recall watching a game on TV and that was 1965. Favorite Buckeye moment - getting Woody Hayes' autograph as a kid. Suffering in the hell hole known as PSU country but love sticking it to the fans here. Have made attending the Spring Game a tradition with my two grown sons.

I am very conflicted about saying how bad the defense is. Did not look good to our eyes but then I looked back at a game that had the same amount of weight to it, stars on both teams and on both sides of the ball, supposedly with top offenses and defenses. Not going to get into subjective perspectives of are they really good or not. Talking about the Alabama Georgia game. In that game both teams gave up over five hundred yards to the opposing offense. Both teams gave up big plays. Both teams did most of their damage in the air. Georgia had no sacks but 7 TFLs. Bama had 3 sacks, 6 TFLs. In our game we had no sacks and only 2 TFLs but Oregon only had 1 sack and 3 TFLs. The other big difference between the games is turnovers. Georgia had 3 interceptions plus lost one fumble and fumbled two other times but recovered them. Bama threw one INT and fumbled once but didn't lose it. Our eyes and hearts are saying "shit, this defense looks like crap" but I am not completely buying into that narrative. Oregon is a damn good team. Yes, we have things to fix. But when you look at other games where two top teams are playing each other far more often than not you get games like ours and what Georgia and Bama played. Imagine what the Georgia fans were thinking when they were down 28-0. We weren't going through that at all. Say what you will about Day and the other coaches but the one thing that we aren't is ever out of a game. We just have to find our way over the hump.

In 2024 the Guardians are at $93M. Brewers are at $105M. In the two Central Divisions the highest in the American League are the White Sox at $142M (nice return for the money there) then the Twins at $125M. In the NL Central St. Louis is the highest at 179M (another nice return on spend). Here is the list from April before any in season deals. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2024/04/03/mlb-team-payrolls-2024-highest-lowest-mets/73139425007/

It is mind boggling the difference. Mets, Yankees, Dodgers combined for 2024 - $860 million. Guardians are at $93 million. The Yankees have not won a World Series since 2009 and they even missed the playoffs last year. With their annual payroll if they were financial investors their return would be considered so abysmal that any of us would have fired them years ago.

Why is it a bitch move? Because we don't like it? Georgia beats the shit out of Clemson. Alabama crushed Wisconsin. Texas destroyed tcun. The SEC all time owns a 60% winning percentage over the Big Ten regular season. They own a 65% winning percentage in bowl games. This century there have only been 3 years where they have a losing record against the Big Ten. You know, the kinda record we like to brag about over tcun. I hate the SEC just like everyone else on here. But I am also willing to face facts when they are staring me in the face. I don't buy for one minute that those percentages would change if they added another conference game unless you buy into the idea that their conference is the toughest top to bottom which I have seen many on here argue it isn't. So what if they play a easy OOC game late in the season instead of playing them all in September. Just because we don't like something doesn't make it wrong or not a smart move.

In fairness some of the schools play a P4 out of conference every year. Georgia plays Georgia Tech. South Carolina plays Clemson, Florida plays Florida State and often ends up with either Miami or another P4 like Utah last year and the year before. Alabama almost always has a good P4 as one of their 4 OOC and one their other OOCs comes against higher end G5. When they choose to play those other games only seems to be a pain for some fans. Personally I think it is smart to play a sure win in their next to last regular season game. They get a bump early in the polls from who they play in game 1 or 2 then they get a rest game near the end of the season.

BS. People like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs who led the creation of whole industries and created wealth for millions of people absolutely earned what they got. There are few people walking this planet who can do what Warren Buffet with Charles Munger have done. My IRAs are eternally grateful for people like them. Same for doctors, scientists and others who have come up with amazing inventions. This idea that people have that anyone can do what people like these have accomplished is just flat out wrong and they definitely have EARNED what they get paid.

Well, let's remember even in the movie they didn't show what happened in the World Series after beating the Yankees. Major League 2 says they lost the World Series so nope, that doesn't work either.

The one thing coaches like Saban and Meyer didn't give two shits about was if a player's feelings got hurt. They didn't hesitate to pull a starter if they weren't getting the job done, they let them know it on the sideline if they weren't happy with how they were playing as well as letting their top assistants know in game when they weren't happy with what was going on. Saban was the master at all of this.

According to Wikipedia of the original members one was born in Alabama, two in Canton, one in Detroit, and one in North Carolina. They formed the band when they were classmates at Canton McKinley High School. They did most of their recordings in the Cleveland area but signed with a Philadelphia group which is what led them to be connected to the Philadelphia sound. Backstabbers and Love Train - part of the sound track of my high school days.

As we look forward to our remaining schedule I am frankly enjoying what SEC teams still have to go through with everyone having at least one loss except Texas. Georgia has Texas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. Alabama has Tennessee, LSU, and Missouri. Texas has Georgia of course but also Texas A&M plus both Kentucky and Vandy. This is the year that they cannibalize each other.

Ironic that if the conference had not expanded Ohio State would be the favorite to win. Instead we are a distant 3rd behind USC and UCLA. Oh well, maybe they can surprise them and take a game or two from them. Unfortunately we play each once and both are on the road. Thanks Big Ten.
