That Notre Dame team that we beat was hot garbage. Both teams played really bad football. Day carried on like it was a program defining win. His standards are too low for this program.
I hope SCUM doesn't rush 40 times for 300 yards against us. That's the only way they can beat us.
I thought Knowles would do a decent job. He is a little better than Coombs and Barnes, but not by much. His 4th quarter stats are almost impossibility bad.
He beats Prairie View EVERY time...so there's that.
Reads like an argument for a participation trophy.
No thanks
Oregon blogs are calling Lanning a genius. They are calling Day a goof for his clock management. I think we would be saying the same thing if the roles were reversed.
Day wanted a "softer and gentler" philosophical approach after Meyer left. I don't know if that works in big time college football. Seems like the coaches and players know they will not be held accountable. Day will just blame the weather, the flu, or the 12th man when we lose.
I still enjoy it, but it helps me to vent. I grew up in Michigan. The Cooper years and Day losing 3 in a row have been tough to take. Day is not my favorite since he let Michigan up off the mat and win a natty. Their program was on life support until Harbaugh started bullying Day.
I would say Cooper isn't the standard for an Ohio State coach. Day also started with a much better football team than Cooper. We are in trouble if "Day might be better than Cooper in some instances".
I would fully expect Day to coach a 9-8 NFL team to a 4-13 record. He doesn't coach well against teams with remotely close talent. That's why his name never comes up regarding NFL jobs. Not a knock on Day, just a fact at this point.
I'd rather Day issue the "still not elite" statement like Franklin instead of him making excuses.
The apologists won't want to hear this, but the AD is likely going to want Day to win something at some point. "Still not elite" only works in Happy Valley.
Good point. Day might need to deliver the "still not elite" statement here soon.
The apologists won't want to hear this, but the AD will likely expect Day to win something at some point. That's just how this stuff works.
I think he gets a little too much credit for beating the likes of Alcorn State and Youngstown State. Need to beat a decent team once in a while.
It doesn't get any better than the Ohio State job. That's why coaches are expected to at least win a B1G championship once in awhile.
Thats fair. My point is that we can explain away every loss in the history of sports if we try hard enough. I'm enjoying listening to Mike McCarthy explain away the 47-9 Cowboys loss to the Lions right now.
Parcells: you are what your record says you are.
STL, you know your college football. You are well aware that Urban would still be undefeated against Harbaugh and Moore. Day is a good man, but he doesn't win any hardware.
Day let SCUM blow by us in the B1G power rankings the past few years. Now it looks like Oregon has done the same thing. If we drop to 4th, we need to make a change. Let's not turn this into OSU basketball post Matta.
Hafley turned out to be a dud too. One could argue that it was more luck than skill during his one successful campaign.
Probably a good idea for Day to spend some time with a sports psychologist to overcome the yips and clock management errors. He's lost right now.
How do we know this? I have not yet seen Vrabel coach at Ohio State.
I thought I dealt with the loss pretty good. Now it's 4:00 AM and I still can't sleep. Bummer game
Probably need to win out at this point. I have zero confidence that this team is capable of such a feat. There will inevitably be a close game or two in there. We never win close games under Day.
