That’s an impressive schedule diebler has built. I commend diebler for scheduling tough when a lot of top teams do the opposite. Going to find out early what this team is made of.

Too many changes on the OSU team to take on this type of schedule & no need to. This makes getting to the tournament that more difficult & can make recruiting difficult if things don't materialize.

Again, the home OOC schedule is crap and only the away schedule is worth watching. The upper bowl of the Schott will be closed until 2025 when the BIG schedule starts.

These days almost the only way to get a high-major team to come to your place in the OOC is to do home-and-homes with them. OSU will have 2 of those going next season, going to Texas A&M to pay them back for coming to our place last season and then starting the one with Pitt.

It's unfortunate that B1G-ACC and Gavitt Games Challenges are done as that was another opportunity to maybe get a decent home non-con game on the schedule. Now it's down to neutral court games and home and homes. This is what almost all programs are dealing with now, but that doesn't stop the likes of Duke, Indiana, UK and so on from filling their arenas for most games.

If possible, I think OSU should try to schedule other Ohio teams or decent mid-majors in the home game slots that they can't get high-majors in. They did that a bit with YSU and Indiana State, but Indiana State might not even be any good this season with the coaching change and all the players they lost, and YSU is pretty far down the list of Ohio schools I'm interested in seeing the Buckeyes play. It's tough. But I do think maybe getting 2-3 Ohio schools on the non-con every season would be at least one way to drum up some additional interest in those "cupcake" buy games, even if it means the Schott having in attendance a sizable contingent of fans rooting for the visiting team, ha. Akron, Bowling Green, Toledo, Kent St, Ohio U., Cleveland State -- there are options. Of course teams like Dayton, Xavier, Cincinnati -- but now you are potentially talking about home and home deals again.

I personally like the non con schedule as even the cup cakes come from some of the better mid major conferences.

They've scheduled plenty of mid mac's from ohio and elsewhere and it does nothing for attendance, including the 2,000 people they bring that sit up in the boonies, whomever that team is still only pops about 12,500 in attendance. They talk about scheduling the others but outside of cinci haven't done so. There was a thawing of the ice with Dayton with H. but that left when he did.

It's lose lose for OSU with those 3 schools, being the big dog Ohio school from the best conf., at least until cinci went to a better conf. One full house doesn't add anything to the overall budget on the season, so they stay away from it even tho fans throughout Ohio would love to see OSU take on one of them every year.

StJohns capacity was 13,276. USC's basketball venue built in 2002 is 10,200. Something wrong with the thinking. Especially since the odds of scheduling elite opponents for home and home is becoming a thing of the past. Neutral court is the new NIL draw. Still plenty of good basketball will be played this year at Value City in conference.

Fair points, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I personally at least would be more interested in watching OSU play teams like Akron, Kent State, Toledo, OU, etc. than Campbell, Evansville, and so on. I'm fine with the Green Bay game this coming season because at least the Gottlieb thing gives it a point of interest. Ditto that on Valpo due to the history with Diebler. More buy games like those games and Ohio teams (or even regional teams like Oakland last season) as opposed to low mid-majors that present games with virtually no hooks to them. Heck, schedule teams like George Mason, Illinois State or Niagara that are coached by former OSU assistants. Set up home and homes with Butler and DePaul sometime in the next few years, lol.

A neutral site game with Aurburn maybe, but not a neutral region game!

Maybe we could schedule Neutral regional OOC games at Atlanta and Nationwide Arena.

Diebler to Thornton and fam-you're welcome! It's my appreciation to you for staying and believing in me.

Okay, fair enough. I think what I'm trying to say is that, personally, I'd be more intrigued to watch OSU play teams like Kent State, OU, Toledo, Akron, etc. than schools like Evansville, Campbell, and so forth. At least the Gottlieb situation adds some interest to the Green Bay game this next season, so I'm good with that. Same goes for Valpo because of their past with Diebler. Those kinds of games, along with Ohio teams (or even regional clubs like Oakland last season), are more likely to be purchased than low-mid majors that include games that have almost no hooks. Heck, schedule former OSU assistant coaches' teams like Niagara, George Mason, and Illinois State. Install mansions and residences with a butler and
