@Buckfrombirth White has a good release on his three point shot, good pull-up game, decent bounce at the rim and one major plus he can take contact around the rim. I think it will be a good pick up I am not sure being a Division 3 player translates into B10 basketball where the guys are a little more athletic. I just want to see how he looks in AAU games against more athletic and quicker players.
I don't follow recruiting closely, but it was posted on another thread that White was 3rd overall in offensive efficiency for the entire Adidas AAU circuit. I think his OSU offer was based mainly on how well he played in AAU.
I know, "three stars," but I've liked White when I've seen him play and I think his game can translate. Also, news like this is always especially exciting for places like Putnam County.
And I'm not terribly concerned about not having any more scholarships at the moment. The non-senior roster we have now will not be the same one we have in April, I can pretty much guarantee.
It will translate. He got game. Nice needle in the haystack pickup. Just my opinion on the first few videos. Of course he can gain weight, get stronger, and maybe work on his d. Also you can never have enough handle. Looks like a strong shooter, with form
Great pick up. Just from what I have read about him and some informed opinions from others, seems like a potential glue guy in the mold of Kyle Young, Andre Wesson, David Lighty, Chris Jent, etc.
I feel a little bad he is getting overshadowed on a website like 11 Warriors because a football recruit committed the same day. But it is a football town, might as well get used to it, Colin. Welcome aboard!
He might be. But Wesson and Young (especially) were pretty damn efficient offensive players as upperclassmen. Neither were high volume guys and there is definitley a chance White could develop into a high volume scorer as an upperclassmen. But if he matches their efficiency with just a little more volume, I'd be happy with that.
Looks like a solid pickup! I think this staff targets high character players with a work ethic to improve and develop their skills. I would not be surprised to see Colin grow to be a hell of a player!! I wouldn’t mind seeing another skilled big man joining this class. Let’s Go Bucks!!
This guy looks good, and I'm glad to have him aboard in addition to some other good recruits. However, I will reserve excitement until Holtmann actually wins something.
Colin White kid seems to have the ability to make the shots under contact while attacking the rim that is a huge plus. He will need this ability in Big Ten basketball especially against the likes of the more physical teams like Rutgers, Purdue, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan State. Not sure how a Division 3 Ohio high school basketball player game will translate into Big 10 basketball. More successful Buckeye players from the state of Ohio played in Division 1 and Division 2 high school basketball.
He plays in the same league that Dakota Mathias (Purdue), as well as OSU freshmen Austin Parks. They normally play a tough non-league schedule as well. Last year they played Lutheran West, Princeton, Findlay, Lima Senior, Rossford, Lakota East and Lexington. That is not a D3 schedule.
I love it. Holtmann coming strong up in to NW Ohio. Will soon have 2 WBL players along with 1 NWC. That my friends is beyond rare, it's gotta be the only time that has happened.
THe 1970-71 team of course had a bunch of Ohio guys, but not sure exactly where the high schools were geographically speaking. But Alan Hornyak was from Bellaire, Luke Witte went to Marlington High, Mark Minor in Solon. That was graet team.Hornyak averaged 22 ppg before 3's were invenyed. Jimmy Cleamons of course went to Linden McKInley, the Columbus City League. Mark Wagar don't know, because google talks about the concussions he and Luke Witte sustained in the brawl the following year in Minnesota.
Although I can't think of any, surely there have been one or more players for OSU from the WBL, but just as certainly, this would be the first ever two at the same time.
Congrats Colin and welcome aboard. No doubt he will work his butt off (no reason to think everyone on the team isn't).
I think athleticism (horizontally) is the main question mark as to how well his game will translate to the B1G, but he's a high IQ guy with a well rounded skill set.
OG is a basketball powerhouse in NW Ohio and those kids play all the time against the D1 and D2 competition up there. Not concerned about his ability to contribute at all, coming from OG.

Another great day in Buckeyeland.

Did you check over your post before hitting save? Opinions only matter with clear titles and full details.
Reloaded my signature at a good clip, while consulting a magazine. Go Buckeyes.

Awesome to see someone from a small town in NW Ohio get the opportunity to play for the good guys.

Love it when the good ones stay home!
Young man looks like a gamer. And, he's got a very quick release on his jumpers. That's always a plus against an aggressive zone.
Glad he's coming to the good guys!

Juni Mobley kid was a great pickup by OSU.

I play, coach stays. He goes, I go.
I'm old enough to remember a kid from a D3 school not far from Ottawa that had a very nice career at OSU.
Good points, BuckeyeYankee. Well said. Apparently, he's done quite well on the AAU circuit, so that's another plus.
I'm excited to see him ball for the S&G.

He might be more of an offensive threat than Young, Wesson, etc.

Great pick up by the Bucks. Little known fact, his mom is Capital University's women's bball all time leading scorer
Thanks for the knowledge
Think Mark Wagar is from Avon, OH.
