Knowles HAS TO USE two defensive ends and two tackles and more often than not they are in fixed positions with very little that's not hat on hat.
That's not the game today. We see it all the time in sports. The game changes and coaches don't adjust. Offensive lineman, especially tackles, have made the biggest jump in athleticism the past decade. You just aren't going to beat teams as good as Oregon and Michigan and Georgia who have that type of talent on the offensive line, trying to do it hat on hat.
Look at the NFL. Look at the top pass rushers, look how their d-coordinators put them in positions to win. Do you see that with Larry Johnson? JTT goes up against the right tackle most of the game, Sawyer the left...
When's the last time we saw 4 defensive ends on the field, 5 d lineman, 3 d lineman? Stunts, letting someone like JTT pick who he wants to go against. Look at someone as talented like Myles Garrett. They still move him around almost every snap to put him in a situation to win.
Look at what Knowles did at OK State that won him on the accolades, we aren't doing that here because Coach Johnson still wants 2 tackles and 2 ends on every play...
Listen to everyone who's around the program yesterday and today.. they keep pointing to the defensive line. If we put pressure on the QBs Stetson Bennett, JJ McCarthy and just recently Dillon Gabriel don't have all day to let explosive plays develop.
It's not talent.. it's scheme.. Again, if you hire someone like Knowles to fix your defense... he has to be able to fix the defense..
I appreciate everything Larry Johnson has done and in no way want him fired, I just think it's time that he's not calling plays on gameday. Let Knowles handle the scheme and the rotations. That's what he's paid to do.
Go Bucks!!
