Agree. He exceeded my expectations and played very well in a huge game.
We all heard the preseason concern about the oline and whether they could improve from their poor 2023 performance. Akron was a weak start but they showed some minor improvement with 203 yards against a solid Iowa defense. The real tests were always going to be Oregon and Michigan forward. The pff evaluation and 140 yards against Oregon reinforce that the oline remains the weak link on the team.
I've been "writing it down" and "booking it" from you Hang 100 fan boys for a long time. I wrote it down for this game when your sect was so sure about a 42-10 type win. How about you write it down and remind us when Day has a 50-50 record against really good teams.
Your not counting the right games. We have been talking about winning the big games... Oregon (twice), Michigan (3x), Georgia. His signature win is Notre Dame. Day wasn't hired to beat Akron, Marshall and Iowa. Every year Day has said he has 3 goals. Beat Michigan, win the BIG and win the nc. The last three years he is 0-9. You either don't know much about football or your standards are low or you are a blind loyalist.
Having expectations to win these big games to some degree is not entitled, it's normal expectation for this program. No one expects to win every time but if you don't expect Day to win some of these then why not? Why are your expectations so low?
Loving your team doesn't have to include being satisfied with results. Buffalo and Cleveland have had how many head coaches? Don't confuse unhappiness with results with lack of support.
Depends on what is considered downfield. Short to intermediate routes were open all night. They didn't run much deep though the one pass to Smith deep was completed after being late and short.
Burke lost millions in draft ranking on Saturday. Poor cover skills, no closing speed and got bitch slapped by a wr dragging him 20 yards downfield.
Sounds like you've celebrated a number of moral victories. Are you a happy Buffalo Bills fan having been to 4 Super Bowls? You should have higher expectations.
Anybody know how many recent nc Kirby Smart has won? Asking for a friend.
... reasonable take if Day had ever recovered and reacted differently after a big game loss and then went on to win. He doesn't. At some point Day needs to demonstrate a reason to believe in him in big games. Your rah, rah speech without evidence of change means nothing. Given the resources, talent and massive financial and fan support it's reasonable to expect more than Day has delivered.
Was at the game and it's taken 24 hours to sort thru it all. If this team had played really well and lost to a superior team, I wouldn't feel so disappointed. The two turnovers were flukes though they cost the team 9 points. The offense was mixed with great passing and sub par rushing but meh rushing results were somewhat expected. The defense 500 yard letdown was a shock and the painful penalties killed momentum. I've never considered this team in the same class as 2019 on offense or defense. This game provided a big clue that this team is talented but severely flawed for tests against truly good teams. The oline was always barely competent and now they are in a tough spot. The defense was exposed to be merely ok. The defensive coaching is fatally flawed and just not championship level. And, I'm becoming convinced that Day just doesn't have the Tressel, Meyer, "it" to be a championship head coach. He's a good coach but not great enough to drive this program in these types of games.
Well we saw one definition of toughness yesterday when a Duck receiver tossed Burke around like a teenage girl for 20 yards. That's toughness in action.
More "if" statements from the BLB with an attempt to curse his way to reality. Lol.
Ah, the Blind Loyalty Brigade showing up to protect their cult from reality with "if" statements and hypotheticals in fear that knowing the truth threatens their moral commitment to the team. Instead of cult kool-aid, try drinking reality and facts. It doesn't always taste great but it does allow you to live in the actual world.
Knowles came from middling programs where he had to develop complex defenses to make the 3 star talent that stayed with the program for 4 years decently good. Knowles has never understood that he had great talent that can win most games if put in the proper schemes and situations. I knew we were fucked when the Knowles took our 5 star defensive end and tried to make him a linebacker.
Mad scientists like playing with their toys. They don't like following rules and being conventially productive. They like spending 10 years in their basement working on their theory while life above moves on. Mad scientist types see the beauty in their mathematical equations and stare blankly when it's pointed out that there's no application. The 1 in 1,000,000 mad scientist breakthroughs extend the fallacy that they add value. In sum, fuck mad scientists. Give me someone who can produce now.
I'm struggling to temper my response to this post. I was at the game. Losing this game has zero chance to be a plus. First, they lost and are now -1 in the BIG to the Ducks. Second, it is now firmly entrenched that Day and Knowles cannot prepare a team to win a big game. The team tonight looked unfocused and lacked fire. If a coaching staff can't get a team ready for this game then they simply don't have it. The supposed great defense was exposed in a major way. Horrendous pass defense, zero pressure on the quarterback and spotty run defense. The bucks lost 1 maybe 2 offensive linemen from an already very average oline that lacks depth. No. Losing tonight is not a plus. It exposed a team, especially a defense that was supposedly becoming championship level. They are not that. They are good because they have a literal fuck ton of talent. They are not great because there is simply something fundamentally lacking in this coaching staff ability to transform talent to be great.
I can't remember a worst performance by a db then Burke tonight. I was at the game and he clearly didn't respect Gabriel's arm and when he was beat showed zero ability to close the gap. He was also beat on the short touchdown pass. The play where he was beat and then the receiver just man handled Burke was simply embarrassing. It was one of many situations where the Duck's passion on the field was just much greater than Ohio State's. They simply wanted it more.
Ok. I was at the game. Here is what I saw. The defense gave up 500 yards to the Ducks offense. I would have bet my house that wouldn't happen. Burke was simply horrendous. Continously burned deep and didn't show any closing speed. He lost millions in next year's draft. The defense simply couldn't get off the field. No pressure on Gabriel at all. He played pitch and catch all night. The run defense was spotty. Sometimes good but then huge gaps would appear. Sawyer and Tuimoloau were invisible, especially on the pass rush. Howard had his best passing night of the year though again he is late and short on deep throws. Egbuka was unstoppable. Simply great. The backs ran hard but the oline was mediocre on the run even before Simmons went down. 140 yards on the night. Oregon seemed to just want it more. They were definitely the more emotional team on the field. The Buckeyes seemed a bit "corporate"tonight. Not saying lack of effort but just didn't seemed locked in and focused. Lots of penalties. Kind of rambling but tonight the Ducks played a very clean game and took the chances that paid off. Ohio State probably was the more talented team in the field but were sloppy.
Besides the "Hang 100" blind loyalists, most fans know this should be respected as a good match up. I'll be there. I'll be wearing scarlet.
I get it. We see it every day in our country. Once you're in a cult no amount of logic or facts can change your opinion. It's an emotional commitment that blocks rational thinking.
The only alternatives I like better than the standard are the 2014 nc game gray stripe which should be the Buckeye home uni. Now get off my lawn and turn your music down.
Not a fan. Look like ice cream truck salesmen.
I love Netflix and Prime. I watch a ton of content on both. Hulu is also fine. Peacock as a service sucks.
