You are upset that twitter trolls are saying this? I’m talking about places where actual football discussions take place. We have our own trolls telling Oregon it’s the only reason they won the game.

Great article. I'm skeptical that much will change with the defense, other than practicing fundamentals. Would love to be wrong, as it's genuinely unfun to watch our defense right now.

Just want to say you are a brave dude. 

First of all: “Bucks”.

Second: you are building a massive straw man. No one is happy about the defensive performance. No one is saying that Oregon’s offense is comparable to Marshall or Western Michigan. 

But throwing a temper tantrum in a message board without recognizing that we were one or two calls from a win in arguably the toughest road environment isn’t going to convince anyone of anything.

We all want the defense to improve and they have every opportunity to. Oregon is a great football team. Someone predicting a 4 touchdown win is not serious. That’s an emotional message board poster without any basis in reality.

While there is a path to the playoffs if we lose to PSU, you can't pencil us in for that. Only way to for sure get in is to go undefeated into the conference champtionship game. Even if we lose to Oregon then, we'd have the best two losses and would be in the playoffs.

Because Oregon is a Championship contender, and we went blow for blow with them in their house. The sky is not falling, and there is plenty of time for adjustments. Coming into these threads throwing a fit about other talented teams finding weak spots in our team is just as bad as people that want to point out that there are a littany of reasons to be excited about this team.

If we come out with the win, you'd be enjoying your day right now. Instead you are attacking anyone who hasn't given up on the team after 1 loss and some adversity for the first time this season. We aren't going to blow every team out, and if you expect that, you are going to be miserable every season; and I'd bet you are miserable every season.

I think a couple of things are true with this defense though: we need to bring more than 4 in talent-equated games. We've shown that we can get pressure with 4 against outmatched teams, but mixing in some zone blitzes needs to be done to keep teams honest. What we saw was the faster WR corps getting behind us and Gabriel having enough time to let those long plays develop. Burke was bad, bad. But he was not put in a position to succeed. 

The defensive braintrust made zero obvious adjustments on the scale that we needed. When you can't get pressure and your corners can't cover, it's going to be a long night against the teams we have to beat to make a title run. I want to see a little more of the Oklahoma State DC we hired, and less of the one that plays it safe to a fault.

Very overrated? Go outside man.
