TTUN games ‘21-‘23 were Top 5 games. Included the ‘19 game in Top 5/Big games as my criteria included all TTUN games.
Some interesting points but I don’t agree that Day’s results are excellent. His record in big games is poor.
Where are all the TTUN games in your list? TTUN was in the Top 5 in ‘21-‘23 and #13 in ‘19. TTUN must be included in Top 5/Big games. Your list excluded 3 TTUN games.
Day’s record in big games is:
- 1-3 against our #1 rival TTUN losing 3 in a row.
- 1-3 in the CFP.
- 3-7 against Top 5/TTUN.
- 3-11 between ‘19-‘23 against our 3 main goals in a season - Beat TTUN, Win the Big Ten and Win a NC
Coach Day loses yet another big game again. 2-7 against Top 5 teams. 1-3 against Michigan. No Big Ten Championships since 2020. No National Championships. He chokes and plays far too conservatively on the big stage. That’s the main problem.
Coach Knowles defense is too complicated. Our DL has not gotten pressure in most games and yesterday did not control the LOS. JT flashed at times but where was JS? We need to get Caden Curry and other DEs much more playing time. Burke was abused yesterday and his tackling was abysmal. Why was he not replaced by Matthews? The rest of the secondary was fine. The linebackers were not impactful.
Day loses yet another big game. His staff was clearly out coached by Oregon. Very frustrating.
I really hope the game slows down for CJ and he pulls it all together. He has the potential to be a great player and his challenge is a mental one.
Agree ScarletandGray01 … give Donovan another game off to rest and recover. He’s going to be critical to our success on the O line.
My biggest concern after Game 1 was the O line. I know we had 2 new starters in there. As Day said after the game, no excuses. Our run blocking was not where it needed to be especially considering we were playing Akron.
Yep Brute Buck definitely remember Buckeye Potato Chips. That brings back some fond memories. They were great.
Caleb and Lathan will be dominant in the back. They clearly are in sync.
Lathan is going to excel this year. Tucson strong!
If Frye doesn't close 3 remaining OL for this class, it's time to move on.
He is not a good recruiting closer. He has only closed 3 out of 17 OL from out of state since he's been here.
Frye does not offer nearly enough OL. As JBook said, for 2026 he's only offered 16 OL and Georgia has offered 40 and Alabama 36.
For some reason, we have not even offered Adam Gutherie an Ohio OT who's a Top 200 player overall. He's had 32 offers overall.
OT is a critical need for next year. Our coaches can't name a 3rd starter quality OT for this year. If Frye is a good developer how is that possible?
If we don't offer nearly enough OL and we can't close well, we are in deep trouble. It's a numbers game that Georgia and Bama understand.
For some reason we don't.
You make some good points. I don’t blame Fry solely for the lack of OT depth behind Simmons and Fryar but he is the OL coach and responsible for that. Do you think we have good depth at OT?
Frye needs to step up his recruiting and development to the level of expectation for the other coaches - Hartline, Johnson, Walton, Laurinaitis in his first year, Guerrieri a good start, Locklyn started well, same for Bailey, etc. We need 2 leading OTs. It’s a concern. If we can get David Sanders, he’s done a great job recruiting wise. If not, it’s an issue and we’ll need to resort to the portal.
Harbaugh is an unethical and sociopathic liar and cheater. Harbaugh and his lawyer can laugh at, deride and belittle the NCAA, but the NCAA decisions will become a permanent record in his career. Harbaugh will never coach in college again.
We’re loaded, Oregon is spending NIL as much as us, and he just wasn’t that interested in Ohio State. We shouldn’t try to flip him at all. We should only show interest in players interested in us.
Welcome to Buckeye Nation Ques.
Exactly right Icouldnotgofor3. Talented guard play is critical to winning Championships. Combine that with the great new talent coming in at C, PF and G and this could be an exciting season for the Buckeyes Basketball Team.
Thornton and Meechie could be the best starting guard tandem in the Big Ten. Their leadership, their experience, their talk of complementary play, their talent and their desire to return Ohio State to challenging for Big Ten Championships and NCAA Tournament wins. The guard room has a lot of talent with Parrish, Mahaffey, and Mobley. Look forward to seeing how they drive the team this year.
We need big time OL commits Justin Frye. Please close one next weekend. The spotlight is on you.
It’s not 5 years without a National Championship. Wish it was but this year is our time!
Having worked for multiple PE firms I’ll say on the positive side that they will help the Big12 optimize their short term financial position but on the negative side their vision is only 2-5 years and I’ve seen as many companies impaired by the process as improved.
You have a great opportunity to show them what you’re made of Steele. Focus, vision, technique and aggression. Buckeye Nation is behind you.
I don’t know of her but looking at her job history she sure moves around a lot. She seems to be one of those folks who doesn’t stay anywhere and takes new jobs for the money or title.
Way to go guys! Great opportunity at the highest level. Bring it!
Great to have you back Meechie! Look forward to watching you play again in the Scarlet and Gray!
Tegra - best of luck to you in your quest to start. Keep your focus, bring your aggression and technique every snap, constantly strive to be your best in all you do and leave it all on the field every day, It’s not the effort that counts, it’s the results. With this mindset you have what it takes. Now make it happen and look forward to seeing you starting on the field this fall.
Yep the Big Ten negotiated the best deal. Definitely better than the SEC. Sankey the SEC Commish left money on table in his negotiation.
