I mean I LIKE when I hear about all the good stuff OSU players do in the NFL, but it is mild like, not even close to the 2 NC's I witnessed as an adult. I also enjoyed the 68 NC as a child, but didn't know how special they were then. Of course most of our fans, me included, expected that team to win 2 more.
It was extremely puzzling why Burke was not benched.
I remember 1972 vs UM and 1975 vs UM, the DEFENSE won both of those games for us.
Columbus was called "The graveyard of coaches" before Woody Hayes.
One thing about why this feels so bad as opposed to just feeling like a mulligan we can afford to take on the way to the playoffs, is not only Day's record against top 5 teams, it's that we are now 2-3 in our last 5 games against Power 5 (4?) teams.
I know the game has changed and we are not as bad as we used to be a few years ago,( Tyliek WIlliams) but our defense is small, as in physically small. In big games that makes a difference. I remember in the Rose Bowl at one point thinking, damn, it doesn't look like we have anyone in our back 7 that weighs over 200 pounds.
I mean maybe we lost a second here, but honestly this was not the 1972 US vs Soviet Union basketball game level of clock skulduggery.
Yes our main problem is not having a B+ quarterback. We had an A quarterback with an even worse defense and that did not work in big games either.
I don't know about not being allowed back on the field, but he definitely needs to be moved to second string. That was the worst, most impactful bad performance since Joe Bauserman. and he was a first year starter at the time.
I mean he's not "ass" but he is definitely not someone that is dominating this year.
The 2002 game the south stands stood ON THEIR SEATS for the whole game.
I will take option 2 every time, especially with the 12 team playoff. This is basically the Urban Meyer or Vince Lombardi approach.
Hell in the NFL these days attempting 60+ yarders is becoming commonplace.
I think we had a pressure where Gabriel had to tuck it and only gained a yard, so that is almost a sack, but other than that, nothing. That first long TD, we may as well have dropped all 11 guys into coverage based on the pressure we got.
He looked like a complete bum. Are we sure he is not 37 years old or something, dude has no speed.
I mean you can't lose all of them. This feels like the pre Tressel days where we won like one big game a decade.
I mean at a certain point you have to WIN one of these big games. Yeah, you can argue last year's Penn State game was a big win, but they ended up with 3 losses. You can't lose all of them, you just can't "Next time" is starting to ring very hollow.
Two losses at most and our only losses are to top 5 teams on the road, we probably sneak into the playoffs anyway. That being said, please bench Burke. Make him the 4th corner tops.
Given they were affected by the fifth down play vs Colorado AND the bullshit play where the Nebraska player illegally kicked the ball to their own receiver, I can understand why.
Wow, not exactly a riveting early slate. I guess I kind of care about the outcome of the two Big 10 games, but other than that, it's pretty much garbage.
I don't know about a "travel" advantage, but we had about 80% of the crowd at the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Hell, I think every famous person who ever had an association with Ohio was in that crowd. Our fans also outnumbered Oregon fans in the 201(4)5 title game in Dallas, and you can argue its easier to get to Dallas from Columbus than from Oregon. But yes, it is extremely annoying that we have had to play so many games in the past for a national title in the home city/state ( Rose Bowls vs USC and UCLA, 2007 BCS CG in the Superdome vs. LSU) of the opposing team.
