Da, we can get ćevapi, Kajmak, Burek, Cedevita from PV Euro market in NE Ohio and ship it directly to him.

for Rakija, beer, he can visit PV and Joe D’s directly, since no shipping of hard liquor in Ohio. He can get some Rakija in Columbus and Croatian beer in Savor Growl if they have it in stock.

Heck, I have most of that in stock in my fridge already.

dobro došli u Columbusu. Alamo hrvatska.

Definitely not Croatia.  Croatia gain independence in early 90s, they wouldn’t identify as Yugoslavians in late 90s.  That player was Serb or Montenegrin, either way he was ethnically Serbian and orthodox Christian type of Balkan

I think I saw him at the Columbus Serbian festival few years, him or the 7-footer serb who also played at OSU few seasons later

Yep.

I’ve always compared rivals and 247 to Pepsi and Coke

On3 to starter up soda company with flashy marketing and wild/weird experimental flavors

ESPN is the soda made by a mentally challenged child of a billionaire in a school science fair.

For me:

LT: Simmons

LG: Jackson

C: McLaughlin

RG: Montgomery

RT: Tshobola

I’m all about play the growers, not the showers.  Fryar is a poor shower, I don’t see him as a playoff caliber starting OL.  Wouldn’t oppose portal OT or Montgomery at RT.  Cool with Montgomery getting a spot, must given others every opportunity to upgrade over Fryar for other spot.

My pitch to Proctor would’ve been:

I know you’re homesick, we’ll do our best to remind you of Iowa with our own Midwest town and way of life.  We’re all-in this season, come and go for a ring.  Here’s $2m in nil opportunity, you can transfer back to Iowa for your Jr season without sitting out.  Just come in for spring to see it yourself along with some nil deals and transfer to Iowa in spring portal if it doesn’t fit.

Focus on the positive and delegate the negatives.  Have him focus on fundraising and figurehead in media appearances.  Leave the administration stuff, PR, hiring to others and board of trustees.  You aren’t getting him if you don’t offer him the AD job.

Assuming no more portal additions with projected returns for pre-spring 2-deep only not 3-deep

QB: Howard, Brown

HB: Judkins, Trey

X: Smith, Ballard

Z: Tate, Kojo

Slot: Meka, Innis

TE: Kazmark, Thurman

LT: Simmons, Michalski

LG: Jackson, Sierveld

C: McLaughlin, Padila

RG: Montgomery, Fryar

RT: Tegra, Fitzpatrick

WDE: Swayer, Kenyatta

3T: Tyliek, McDonald

NT: Hamilton, Kanu

SDE: JT, Curry

Jack: Hicks, Melton

WLB: Styles, Kourt Willams

ILB: Simon, Powers

Boundary: Burke, Matthews

field: Igbinosun, CSH

slot: Hancock, Hawkins

Bandit: Ransom, Bonsu

Adjuster: Hartford, Carter

If Smith really is a generational talent, he will start Day-1 along the line of Julio Jones, AJ Green.  Montgomery should be RG1, should give Michalski, Tegra, Fritz every opportunity in spring to claim RT job and move Fryar to OL6.  Just a hunch Tegra is the best suited at RT for physical transformation of OL.

Alinen is from Finland.  Keely is the one with Norwegian mother I think.  Columbus would also a cultural shock for a Finnish teenager, maybe closer in terms of weather.

On your previous post(exact words):

He was fired because he was failing in the running game, no other reason.

Your next post(exact words):

you are trying to get me to speculate. Nobody knows why he was fired/let go/retired.

Those 2 stances contradict each other.  No one denies the recruiting/draft success of Stud.  It’s too rash to determine the recruiting/draft results of Fyre after only 11 starts by redshirt freshman Hinzman.  Totally possible or even probable for Fyre not to reach those bars in NFL draft.  That’s speculation into the future, something I am not qualified to predict.

Pretty much every article on the Stud firing mentioned his recruiting shortcomings first.  The flaws in run game was a likely a factor, so was age, health, laziness but mostly recruiting efforts.

Comment 22 Nov 2023

Leaps and bounds better and Stud landed far superior recruits?  Do you assume Fyre wouldn’t have landed Paris, NPF, Davis etc as OSU OL coach and assume Stud would have landed Proctor, Okunlola, Bisontis, Baker, Seaton etc under NIL era?  If you believe so, fine.  I can’t assume stuff in an alternative reality.

We can agree to disagree on 247 composite 3 star vs 4 star on(rivals, On3, ESPN).  Can you refute that Montgomery, Hinzman, Tegra and Fitzpatrick have all past James, Leroux, Toutant and Christman?

Did I directly state Fyre objectively is the better recruiter or coach?  I’m open minded to Stud being better, but none of the recruits from 2022+ under Fyre can be labeled as busts yet.  Fyre’s recruiting grade is mostly incomplete for me outside of subjective star system.  Stud’s laziness on the trail and refusal to teach OL certain techniques since it was too difficult are well documented.  Laziness is a huge red flag for me.  Regardless how well Fyre and OL performs going forward, just don’t walk back on your statement on Stud being the leaps and bounds better recruiter.

Comment 22 Nov 2023

2022 class was a translation class so we can rule it out, credit could go to either.  On the current roster, most of the consensus 3 star OL are Fryar, James, Leroux and Toutant all from 2020 class.  If you go by 247 composite, sure Walker, Sierveld, Armstrong twins are 3 stars.  But if you use all recruiting services, the above 4 were 4 star in at least one recruiting service.  So somebody saw the upside in those 4 along with Fyre.  Did any saw the upside with Fryar, James, Leroux and Toutant?  If Van Sickle commits and ratings stay the same, He’d be the only consensus 3 star OL since Fyre took over.

How much of Stud’s recruiting success was because of the brand?  Schiano was key to NPF.  He was widely known for his laziness on the recruiting trail.  The success of OL commits from 2022 and on is remain to be seen.  James, Leroux, Toutant, and Christman under Stud from 2020 and 2021 classes are confirmed non-impacts.

Comment 21 Nov 2023

That was mostly 2020 class under Stud.  Fyre mostly landed 4 stars.  Not all 3 stars are equal.  3 star OL, DL, CB projects are more valuable than 3 star in other positions.
My philosophy: aim for 4 star or better to get the required numbers for all positions first.  When you got the scholarships to spare, stockpile the heck out of OL, DL and CB.  If coaches truly believe a recruit, ignore the ratings and go for it.  Better go with your own instincts than others.

I don’t get work up on CFP.  Until the final selection, all meaningless.  They have been consistent, fair and predictable so far.

My CFP formula has held true every yr so far.

Undefeated P5 Champ>undefeated ND>1L P5 Champ w/conference champ game>1L P5 champ w/o conference champ game>1L P5 non-champ>undefeated G5 champ>2L P5 champ.

1L B12 champ OU get in over 1L B10 champ OSU one year, that was the only decision they even had to make.   Outside of that , all no suspense and fair.

Comment 21 Nov 2023

SEC could easily get 2 teams in:

1. 1L Bama champ

2.  UM/OSU winner

3.  Oregon/Washington winner

Louisville loses to UK and beats FSU in ACC game, OU beats Texas again.  In that scenario, a 1 Loss UGA would definitely get the nod over Loser of UM/OSU, 1 Loss FSU and 2 Loss Texas, Oklahoma and Louisville.

No SEC or CFP bias, it’d played out that way

How I would combat signal stealing:

Design 10+ (new and/or previously used) sets of signs with corresponding wristbands for each player.  Switch to a new set of signs+wristbands after each drive.

Have 4+ assistants(different colored shirts) to signal in plays, 1 real and rest being dummy signals.

Bonus: use Harbaugh memes such as booger Jimmy, shirtless Jimmy, milk, America’s team, burger, CMU Stallions, crying Sheron Moore etc as some of the signals.
