I'm kinda on both sides of this. On one hand, it was a classic. A great game that we happened to lose. Certainly had worse losses and this was nothing to be ashamed of. Someone had to win, someone had to lose. On the other hand, I felt like this is the year if it was going to happen. The money on coaching. The money in the NIL. The returning starters. The maturity of the team. If not this year, when? I don't think it's Xs and Os. It clearly isn't talent. They moved the ball very effectively most the game. It is discipline. Disciplined teams don't commit drive killing penalties. They don't leave it in the hands of the worst refs imaginable. They minimize mistakes. How does Army and Navy manage to get the most out of their players, many of who couldn't even walk on at most schools, and quite often be able to compete and win. It's discipline.

Id line to address the fact that the refs aren't just bad. Week in and week out they have no idea what they're even doing. I've seen high school football with better officiating consistently. That's not hyperbolic.
