'Wake up call' vs 'work on things' is semantics. The good thing is that we have a bye and can work for two weeks with a bad taste in our mouths.

In reality, any one of a small handful of plays going our way could have changed the outcome of that game. if we stayed at the 29-yard line and booted the FG at the end, nobody would be even be thinking about a wake-up call. The Day staff needs to keep refining in all 3 phases, patch the injury holes, assess the upcoming opponents to the Nth degree, implore these young men to do their assignments every play and win the 1-on-1 battles most if not all the time.

Knock on wood but if we run the table, we probably play Oregon again. That's getting ahead of ourselves but I like our chances.

GO BUCKS!

Let’s see… seems to me Ryan deserves more time when you look at 70+ years of OSU history

Woody 28 years .761 W%, 3 legit NCs- coached 28 years and won 3 national titles so 1 every 9 years. I only count AP & UPI so the NFF and FWAA of ’61 and ’70 are just half-ass claims due to 8-0-1 in ’61 and the RB loss in ‘70.

Bruce… zero NCs in 9 years .755 W%

Cooper… zero NCs in 13 years .715 W%

Tressel- 1 Nat title in 10 years .810 W%

Meyer- 1 Nat title in 7 years .902 W%

Day- no title yet in 5.5 years .871 W% to date

By my count that’s 5 titles in 73 years or 1 almost every 15 years. Throw out the Bruce & Cooper years and it’s about 1 in every 10 years.

People run scams all the time and many hold their head up like they've accomplished something worthwhile. This guy scammed time off the clock to win a game. He also had a player spit on an opposing player. He also works for a university athletic department that is awash in profits from a low-ethics manufacturer that's built an empire using sub-living wage foreign labor.

Anybody else see a pattern here?

We lost by a point. That means the entire atmosphere here would be different with two more measly points.

I didn't like that we weren't physical enough, that are DB's got roasted and the DL needed more pressure. And Howard's last run was infuriating. But... two points, across 3 time zones against the most corporately-funded team that money can buy.

These are Our Boys who are being led by Good Men and I'm sticking with them. The naysayers, bitchers & whiners and toxic know-nothings can go find another team until Day wins or moves on. Me, I'm rooting for the Buckeyes now & forever! I can't change teams anyway because I'd have nothing else to wear!

Go Bucks!

So where has it been rumored that Knowles and Johnson have been "feuding" and what does the feuding entail? Is this just internet blather or are there some facts to go with it?

I can't imagine that Knowles isn't OK with the way the D-line isn't integrated into the overall scheme. I agree that we need more pressure on the opposing QB but that isn't the reason Denzel was having trouble. Of course pressure & sacks are the antidote to a hot QB but their receivers were wide open and that wasn't the fault of the D-line.

Just an observation: I noticed how FIERCELY PASSIONATE Lanning was when interviewed at half and end of game. He seemed borderline psycho which I think reflected the way his team played... a WW Hayes type of psychosis where players want to run through a proverbial brick wall. I'm a Ryan Day fan but it seems that his approach doesn't reach that level of crazed intensity. (my 2 cents)

Thanks to all the posters who say we should be happy with how our team lost the game. Now let's all have some cake & ice cream!

My cousin played for Woody from '64 to '67 so was a senior when the Super Soph's of '68 were freshmen practicing against the varsity. Last year he told me that Jack Tatum was the best player that he's ever seen. Conventional wisdom of many around the program then is that if Tatum had played RB, he'd have won the Heisman. It's a crime that Jack isn't in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and a real tragedy that the Browns passed on drafting Tatum and selected Clarence Scott who was a serviceable DB, but no Tatum!

Comparing one team's offensive personnel to the others' and the defensive personnel to the others is kinda silly. Yes we know both teams have good players but the O's don't play each other and the D's don't play each other. It's really the respective offensive to defensive match-ups that will tell the tale of the tape.

You can't fix stupid- Haslam is the guy who wanted Watson and paid out the arse to get him. Imagine if he had kept Baker until he was healthy or held on to those draft choices and got CJ. Anything would be better than what they did- pay hundreds of millions on a low-character guy that the team doesn't believe in. They have to give Jameis a try though he is no savior.
