Sorry for your loss and thank you for sharing your story. I lost my dad in 2020, and still struggle with it every time his namesake (my 1 year old son) does something new that reminds me of him. But I know he’s watching and proud, as is yours.

Completely agree that tackling could’ve been better, especially linebackers. But if we’re looking solely at who leads the team in tackles, and comparing to even 5 years ago, the argument is moot. The game is completely different now (just like OSU offensive mindset). There’s more passing and more plays on the edge. Much less runs up the middle…unless you’re playing mostly Utah, Wisconsin, Iowa, and service academies. I hope we have better linebacker play in the future, but honestly most offenses these days work to put linebackers in conflict each play (see film study on 11w why JSN was so successful against Utah’s all American LB). Go Bucks!

I was at the game and haven’t rewatched it so difficult to see in the moment. But watching the 11 minute clip of CJ above gives me optimism regarding his ability. I think this game was lost (obviously on defense) on offense on the last 2 full possessions. 6 minutes left and 4 minutes left roughly down 1 score. The over reliance on the pass. At some points 1st and 10 on the 50 yard line with 3 timeouts, and they drop CJ back 3 straight times. Needed to mix in a few runs in my opinion to keep the defense honest. You get a holding call on one possession a sack on another. Obviously hindsight is 20/20. Go Bucks!

Imagine if JT had Ryan Day as a coach from the beginning! Sure..not as much arm talent as Dwayne or Justin, but the total numbers would be staggering.

Agree with you here BB7. That game would have been much closer had both teams been at full strength. No one will convince me otherwise. I’m not saying the buckeyes win even 4 out of 10 times. But to say they’re not even close if the game is played 10 times is short sighted in my opinion. Not being able to run the ball/PA pass off of it/limit Bama possessions ended this game right before halftime. If the game ended 45-38 Bama we aren’t even having these conversations. Go Bucks!

Sermon being out also took away the play action passes that Fields buried Clemson with.

Football games can be won or lost in a very small portion of the game. OSU beat Clemson because of a stretch in the second quarter. The Bucks lost this game right before halftime. 21-17. Buckeyes porous D gives up 2 touchdowns. I will concede one of those. But without Sermon they had two straight 3 and outs. No one will convince me that if we had Sermon that would have went that way. 28-24 (or even 28-21) at halftime is a world different than 35-17. Being able to consistently run the ball would have limited Bama possessions. I still think they score in the low 40s, but I think the Buckeyes would have too. Go Bucks!
