Lanning was playing chess and we were playing checkers last 10 seconds. Yes the outcome sucks, but that wasn't the only time we were outcoached, how about the 4th and inches instead of running they run a lil te screen for a huge gainer. Our staff looked like amateur hour last Saturday. No pressure on the qb LJ..... ZERO PRESSURE, guy was ordering tea and crumpets while hucking bombs.
or maximize your earning potential by playing with Julian Sayin for two more years.
JJ is probably the best most physical, fast, great body control, phenom hands @ WR I've seen since Megatron. Williams is electric, jittery, twitchy as can be great body control. Crazy to think how young they are, freshman don't just walk in and start at these two programs, says alot about how they handle themselves and take control of opportunities.
good article. factual.
I've felt this way all season, the defense is playing slow, playing to keep things in front of them, cushion, non-physical. I like to see my dbs press guys, use their hands and readjust their routes, I like to see the linebackers flowing to the ball, exploding off blocks and hammering anyone in their area. I like seeing my DL playing with their hands, physically, playing pissed off. Outside of downs, tyliek, igbinonsin, and arvell reese i just haven't seen that "I'm playing fast and wrecking shit type defense." Slow footed, indecisive, and passive. Is it a lack of confidence in what they are doing, overthinking? 2019 defense would hit your ass in the mouth, hard. Its frustrating seeing cayden curry go for 8 snaps being disruptive and not play more.
He has exceeded my expectations took care of the ball, hit his wrs in good spots. Only knock is his deep ball, but outside of that he carries himself well. He has a confidence about him that is calming at times. I know he made a couple errors, but for the most part he put us in position to win. You can see him get frustrated at times when the call doesn't come in quick enough, but his leadership will carry this team to whatever heights they ascend to. He plays with some fire in his belly.
Jim knowles defense vs TOP 5 teams, UM 22, UGA, UM 23, Oregon 24- all L's 1,897 yards 150 points, not sure what the answer is here, but we can't shut down top teams, it's been proven and documented. You are what the numbers say you are 0-4, and not getting it done.
its only cheating if you get caught - connor stallions.
highly accurate a nothing game, might a be a good one to get tickets to attend.
Curry needs to play more, dudes motor showed up. So tired of not seeing our depth. dline got wore out thanks to that tempo.
I hate noon games, terrible. can we get a night game in the shoe so all these old ass fans that are quiet, sitting on their hands stay home.
stock down burke, jtt, sawyer, calling running plays when teams clearly in prevent, refs making calls in final 28 seconds that impact the outcome of a game,
Stock up curry, arvell reese.
Simon was in his gap the rb gets at most 2-3 yards, sonny took the te, if jtt sets the edge the qb loses a yard, its that simple, he chose poorly.
you are 100% correct on that one, which is why on Saturday I didn't lose my mind like I normally would because you don't have to be perfect every Saturday. I sat there stunned we didn't manage the clock well to pull out the win. 3 mins later I said as poorly as we played defensively, we still had a chance to win. It took a fumble, onside kick to beat us on the road in a hostile environment. The offense is fine for OSU i thought we score 30 we win, just can't give up 30+.
I can get behind that concept. And I'm not saying that is what is happening, but it still doesn't feel right does it? Did you see any stunts or twists? I didn't. LJ is the DL coordinator, at some point do you look at it and say why can't we get pressure. That group looked slow and flat footed, I know the tempo played into that as well. Just a fan looking for answers, this defense was supposed to be lights out, but instead go lit up.
It is written but reads like an opinion piece, podcasts are out there as well do your own research, I don't spoon feed anyone. I have not seen, nor will we ever see solid proof unless LJ is ran out of town, and even than it can be assumed. I am asking the question, is this smoke and mirrors or is there something there.
Gentlemens agreement, I love what LJ did when he had the Bosas, Chase young ect, he seemed to work well with chris ash and jeff hafley. Just feels off right now with Knowles, it's too late to make big changes right now, but if I am Knowles I tell Day that LJ gotta get on board or go retire. There should be zero compromise, it's your defense run it.
comes up every year when they struggle to get pressure in big games. Not sure its low hanging fruit, but something needs to be figured out, can't have two coaching paddling the boat in different directions.
Hearing the same rumblings about LJ and Knowles not meshing.
Is it Knowles? or is it LJ? I keep hearing rumblings of them not seeing eye to eye on what this D line should do, and Ryan Day has given LJ a pass for being and elder statesmen. I don't know this to be fact, but you keep hearing this since Knowles came to town.
Somethings not right with the front 6 on that defense, I've read opinion articles that say Knowles and LJ don't see eye to eye on Dline concept. I'd flat out tell LJ, I'm the D cord, so we are going to twist, stunt, and you if you can't coach it then it's time for you to move on. I just don't get it, it appears broken, the front 6 generates zero pressure, and some pretty bad tackling to boot, I'll give the Oregon RB some credit.
Here is what I noticed, several plays in space Oregon defense swarmed to the ball, several plays in space OSU had 1 maybe 2 guys in the area. A 340 lb DT blew up one of our screen plays.
Any truth the Knowles and LJ not seeing eye to eye on Dline assignments. Have heard several times Day has given favor to LJ due to being the elder statesmen and he wants his Dline going 1 on 1 to get pressure, I see zero twists or stunts with this Dline. I know Burke played like a turd, but at some point you have to put some of this on the D line play not making the qb uncomfortable, that dude was back there texting his buddies "watch this".
