It is very had to argue with Jeremiah here. It is unbelievable how good he has been.
His incredible physical strength at 18 resulted in the horrible offensive PI call on Saturday.
I have not watch Bama play but the highlight reel generated by Ryan Williams has been very impressive.
Being a native of Ohio and Cleveland and living through decades of coming up just short (TY OSU for 2 National Titles), even I am overcoming that nagging feeling that he plays like a freshman at some point.
It is kind of a so what. Sure, Day and Co will beat up on the Huskers.
It is his modus operandi to beat up on the Huskers and Spartans and trounce the Hawkeyes.
When we have a zero stop rate in the 4th quarter of five games when playing big boy football, there is a problem systemically that beating the weaker teams does not seem to solve.
I will watch, cheer and enjoy a thrashing of Nebraska and still question our ability to get a single 4th quarter stop when it matters.
I believe in Ryan Day being Ryan Day. Since baseball provides all the analogies for life, he is playing to the back of his baseball card. At some point in a long season, a guy reverts to his career averages. It may be that Ryan is simply playing to his long-term average here. I hope not and that we see an Alabama like dominance emerge.
None of that is to be negative. At this point I hope in Ryan Day more than believe in him.
Play the infield back and trade an out for a run is something done every day in baseball. Baseball serves as the analogy for everything in life. Trading five yards for 40% of the remaining time on the clock is a no brainer. Well done Lanning. Well done indeed.
You have a point. Many of those passes were thrown at the line of scrimmage and not down field. I recall two straight completions that resulted in 3rd and 1.
I would love (hate?) to see the defensive backfield coaching breakdown of the film with regards to the fact that it appeared we could not cover anyone the entire night. The narrative is that this group of DB's goes against the best receiver corps in the country daily in practice and iron does something or other to iron. Yet, it appeared that downfield our receivers were well covered by their DB's and our DB's had little clue as to who or how to cover anyone. Just seems a bit of a mystery.
Emeka Egbuka has been a pleasure to watch play his entire career at The OSU.
The injury last year was painful (pun intended) for both Emeka and fans.
It is absolutely crazy to think of the list of receivers that he has played with.
Not sure how to quantify, but he may be the player that has played with the best players at his position, in the history of the team.
Sonny Styles was activated this week after activating Caleb Downs the week before! I think I am liking the activated versions.
The thing about Sonny is he came in a year early at 17 and has shown the maturity to seek out the evaluation of Chase Brown and mold his game to the critique. A lot of guys at that level would have stuck to working with their strength staff and coaches, studying film, working with their position groups. This guy showed the initiative to get the input of the best in the blog world, read those critiques, take it to heart and make the changes.
Throw in the Tribe dominating Detroit and it was glorious.
OMTG
I saw a short interview with him and couldn't help but thinking he sounded intelligent, well-spoken and coherent as well as thoughtful and respectful.
He will be downright normal and cool and with me if he completes that mission and gets the W against the TCUN.

Interesting commentary regarding NC mountains and beaches. NC is actually a farming force to be reckoned with on a national basis.
42,817 farms encompassing 8.1 million acres
#1 producer of sweet potatoes farming more sweet potatoes than the other 49 states combined
#1 producer of tobacco farming more tobacco than the next 6 states combined and therefor more than the other 49 states combined
#2 producer of turkeys in the country
# 3 hog faming state in the country
That list goes on as a leader in many other crops and livestock categories.
We do have beautiful mountains but the farms in NC are as good as anywhere in the country.
Best in the Business sayeth Paris Johnson Jr.
He clearly is not spending enough time on forums!
He is the real deal. He was phenomenal last year and is starting to show true dominance this year.
