I've been critical of Howard's lack of downfield passing game but he's been very, very good as a distributor of the football and game manager thus far. He's letting his guys make plays and making sure everyone gets involved. I hope we can hit on some deep balls this week though to really open things up some more.
Which seems like an absolute given at this point. They will be close to double digit underdogs playing at Illinois and Indiana, and likely 15+ point underdogs home against Oregon and away at the Bucks. The Michigan State game is no gimme at this point, likely Michigan favored by 5-7 points. If I'm a Michigan fan with that schedule I would be ecstatic with an 8-4 record. I think 7-5 seems most likely at this point.
Man good question, lot of good places to eat. From a combination of vibe and food, I still don't think you can beat Thurmans. Certainly not the fanciest place out there but it'll always be special to me
Yeah that diabolical wind at Northwestern shut down CJ Stroud and our passing game at Northwestern a couple seasons ago better than any defense could have ever dreamed of. It was insane.
Man oh man that Michigan game has a ton of intrigue in it. Talk about a season-defining game only 4 games into the season. If they (somehow) bounce back and have a good performance and get a win it could really change the developing narrative about this season. If, however, they once again look like crap on offense again and vulnerable on the defensive side it could be a harbinger of a disastrous season to come. I've got that game in my mind as at least an 80% chance of a USC victory by more than 10 points. I foresee Orji struggling to move the ball and then a desperation move back to Warren after the game starts slipping away. It'll be my biggest bet of the week, same as it was for UT game against them
What a repugnant opening game given that the NFL basically handed the Bengals as soft an opponent (at home for crying out loud) as you could ask for. Saw that this was the biggest opening weekend upset in the past 6 seasons. Play calling is so mundane. Defense can't get key stops. Jus nothing to be really encouraged about.
I think they will get at least one short field off a turnover and crowd momentum at home will perhaps spur them on to an extra TD. Also maybe a late game TD to cut the Texas lead from 17 to 10 or something like that to make the final score look more respectable.
"Their souls were sold and their very character bought and paid for, in exchange for some metal and temporary bragging rights. The banners will come down and the memories will fade, but the stench of dishonesty and failure will remain."
Damn, from the top rope. Can one of their sanctions that this quote be chiseled into Michigan Stadium?
So they immediately fired the brilliant guy who did nothing wrong when the accusations came to light. Make it make sense
So am I correct that the Notice of Allegations will not just address the findings of fact in this matter but that it will also contain punishment as well? Or does that not come until the final decision? I reviewed the August 7th decision (about Harbaugh and recruiting violations) that was recently put out there but was not sure if the proposed penalties get included with the initial NOA
The biggest question that I (and potentially many others) have is how much smoke is there to the story about Matt Weiss computer crimes access to Ohio State's internal network? And is it a story that may expand and connect to the advanced scouting scheme and Stallions?
I am in the camp that it won't be a whole heck of a lot. Likely some further detail of the advanced scouting plan that was implemented but do not think we will get a full copy of the NOA or any indication as to where punishment is likely to end up.
Feel the same way but you have to think that the players that we missed on (Hill, Brew, and Moore to a lesser extent) were very much luxury players in the class. We have the top two corners and maybe the best safety in the class already committed. We have 2 top 100 defensive ends with another solid 4 star also committed. I would of love to have got Moore in this class but that seemed like i turned into a NIL bidding war that the coaching staff probably felt was better to avoid at this point, considering we have a generational WR coming in this year and another committed for next year. Pettijohn would get us some needed momentum back as we keep the push in to land Sanders and fill out the remainder of the class.
So it seems as though Roy is basically a lock to commit today. What are the chances of both Hill and Pettijohn joining the class, greater or less than 50 percent? Seems like I'd lean towards only landing one but not sure who has any momentum with either of them at this moment aside from the Bucks.
Is this real life or just a parody at this point? Do they give a legit reason for him bouncing out early?
Yes Galloway would be a natural pivot in that situation. He is not an afterthought by any stretch though and may end up in this class regardless of Woodbey, but that would be a lot of CB's
You are right, but I do think we have a chance at having one of, if not the best classes we have had in the modern era. With Nick Saban being gone that provides a massive opportunity to land some of the high end blue chip recruits that we had just missed on in the past. I mean think of the players that we didn't get after big time recruiting battles with Alabama. JC Latham, Keon Keeley, Caleb Downs, Justice Haynes, Jordan Battle, Damon Payne, and who knows how many more I can't think of off the top of my head.
Combine that with NIL collectives which have really stepped up to be at the forefront of those out there and Harbaugh's absence from the B10. Not to mention the losses to Michigan which have lit a fire under the coaching staff to recruit their asses off and there is a perfect storm brewing to bring in an all time class here. Regardless if it comes to pass its exciting to have the momentum out there and to play the 'what if' game looking forward
And shame on me for neglecting to include the already committed Blake Woodby in this list
If this class somehow ends up with Offord, Sanchez, Brew, McNutt, and Delane that would have to be the most legendary DB class of all time. At one point I would have said that was an absolute pipe dream but arguably we are the odds-on favorites for each of those players. Certainly this DB class is potentially going to be up there with the best of any of Hartline's WR classes
Yeah pulling the no 1 player from the state of Alabama is unheard of from my time following Buckeye recruiting. I think its a combination of the staff going all in on recruiting, especially Walton, NIL stepping its game up, and the loss of Saban and the uncertainty surrounding that program going forward.
How did this guy become such a 'guru' in the strength and conditioning world? His resume is solid but nothing earth-shattering. Doesn't seem like he is the cutting edge of human performance from a scientific standpoint. Seems like he connects well with players but I just don't see how he became the be-all-end-all of S&C coaches.
Fuck Michigan. That's how to feel about it
Yeah this speaks volumes. Coming off a national championship* you would think that these guys would all be at the top of the college football world and enjoying their victory lap. Instead, it's turning into rats off a sinking ship. They know what they did and are worried about what's coming down the pike. I've never seen this type of turnover coming off a successful season at a major program, let alone a championship* one
