A little more time? I’m afraid he’s all out time, this is his 4th year in the program redshirt sophomore. My first thought is to ask my best lineman,Donovan Jackson,to take one for the team and play out of position and give it a go @ LT. This situation with the OL will tell us all we need to know about our OL Coach Frye. Maybe Simmons returns for the Big10 championship and OSU wins out, bringing home the Natty.

I’ll have to look at the replay but I’m pretty sure Burke was in tight man coverage on all those big pass plays he gave up. The first 68 yard bomb aside,he was in pretty good position on both TD’s to make a play. The play that Gabriel scored on the run either Simon or JT shoulda had the QB, looked like both went for the fake to the RB. That’s on the players not Knowles imo. I’ve never fully thought of Burke as a pure shut down CB. Ignosium had a rough day as well with several PI’s. I know the one was on purpose. Everything bounced the way of the home team in this one. I bet if you play this game 10 times it goes 5-5. The OPI on Smith was a borderline bad call, shoulda been a no call imo.
Oregon is an offense first team. They are going to put up 400 yards on everyone imo. I didn’t notice anything new last night. What happened to all those nifty mis-direction hand offs in the run game? Other than the opening drive it seemed like the coaching staff was totally confused. All three of our guards got abused. As many times as Oregon had a DL in the backfield on the snap Oregon should have had 8 sacks. Nothing disrupts an offense mor than pressure up the middle. Pretty obvious the staff did a piss poor job getting the offense ready for the crowd noise @ Autzen. We had 5or6 false starts. As hard as it is to admit this loss is on the coaching staff. In my honest opinion. The offensive PI wasn’t a good call. Both players were fighting for position.
Toad, I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but I really think without a good relationship with the coaching staff it just isn’t going to work out long term. This is a big change (NIL) in ncaa sports. There are going to be horror stories about this new wrinkle in college sports. But I think as time goes on it will comeback to Who will take care of my kid, will this staff develop my son,is the relationship with the staff sustainable ? Even in my life relationships are most important part. I couldn’t work long term with people that disgust me. I think it eventually comes back to who will develop and take care of my kid for the next 3-5 years. At least I hope so.
Many fans have no clue other than what they gleam from the headlines, unfortunately. The portal and NIL will stabilize once the schools are allowed to do their own revenue sharing I’m hoping.
What blows me away is the fact that no one mentioned that Texas players have been compensated $19 million a year since 2021. Or that LSU and Texas both spent $20 million on their rosters for 2024.UGA-$19+million,Bama $18+million etc etc ttun $16.4 million
Even I knowl he’ll play a bigger roll in this than he did last year.
You must of missed the Eddie George years. His senior year was pretty awesome. Archie will always be my RB#1. He won the heisman twice for god sakes. And one the hardest workers on the team. Heard tales of them pushing him to do squats till he cried.
Farmer,Mols and Sims really pitched well the 2nd half of the year but then Diaz started blowing games left and right. At one point I think he blew three save opportunities in a row. I’d like to see the starters pitch longer. This modern culture of pulling the starters after 5 innings makes it that much harder on the small market that can’t afford a ton of money for middle relievers. I get that they are trying to avoid injury with these younger pitchers but surely they could go more than 80 pitches. Seems to be the average pitch count. One of the problems is their strike/ball count. Quit nibbling the corners and throw strikes. The Reds need to replace the whole staff and desperately need a hitting coach. Hard to win when half your lineup is batting.200 and the other half 240-270.
I always enjoy Cap City in Dublin. Huge portions.
This strategy had to be explained to me as well I couldn’t understand why our DB’s were playing so soft. Just passing along the strategy by the defense. Having the DB’s play deep was because of Chiles elite athleticism. In press coverage the DB’s backs are too the QB. Knowles did his homework.Chiles has a great arm but he’s wildly inaccurate and inexperienced.Knowles chose to keep everything in front of the DB’s and force Chiles to beat us with his arm rather than ripping off 30 yard scrambles. Knowles was banking on msu not being capable of multiple sustained drives with inexperienced and inaccurate QB.
Instead of whining about our DB’s playing 10 yards off the receivers we should be praising Coach Knowles for his outstanding game planning. His strategy worked. msu only had 47 yards rushing (2 yards a carry)2-9 on 3rd downs,199 passing yards and only 7 points because we gave them the ball @ the 12 from Howard’s only interception. Did i mention that the defense forced two fumbles in the red zone?those weren’t unforced errors by the ball carriers our defenders knocked the balls out. that’s also from coaching.
Could we have played better in the first half ? maybe. so far our defense has gotten stronger and stronger over the course of the game. our only weakness appears to be at linebacker. once Tyliek Williams is back forcing double teams we should see some improvement from the linebackers. I’d rather have a better tackler @ MLB over a freakish athletic linebacker that can’t tackle.Caleb Downs needs to hold a tackling clinic for Simon and Styles. they’ve been in position more often then naught but keep whiffing on the tackles.
They actually changed the HOF rules to keep him out.
Knowles imo is really coming into his own imo. He’s a great game planner and his defense executed pretty good vs msu. If Chiles works hard and develops the next few years msu is going to be a pain in our ass. That’s a decent coaching staff.
I gotta bow my had to the late great Pete Rose. He’s won more games than Joe DiMaggio played in. Think about that. Yes I totally agree he lost his privileges of being a part of baseball. But it’s wrong to keep him out of the hall.they actually changed the rules to keep him out of the HOF. I grew up listening to the reds on my transistor radio I bought Mr Wiggs for $7. Marty Brenamen made you feel like you were right there. Actually met and had beers with on several occasions Will Mcenamy sp, he was a reliever on the big red machine. Good dude. He had a small business renovating bathrooms and installing bathtub liners, lol in west palm beach.
Hope everyone has a great day and always hug your loved ones.
They scored once in the red zone because of the interception put them on the 12. we gave up 7 points on the road lol
Millhouse, trust me you’ll be glad you went. the enthusiasm of the band and the students chokes me up just thinking about it. I had the privilege of being @ Meyer’s last skull session for the 2018 GAME it was fantastic. Remember 2 hours and 20 minutes before game time. get there early, it’ll be packed for a 3:30 game. You probably should be at St. john arena by 12:00-12:30 @ the latest.
Knowles strategy was not to let Aidan Chiles run wild and exploit his inaccurate passing. When you play tight press coverage the DB’s can’t see the QB taking off down field on scrambles. their backs would be turned to the QB. Chiles was the #7 QB and 58th overall recruit in his class. He’s very talented. Knowles game plan worked,we only gave up 47 yards rushing and 7 points. What more do want?
McCord pick 6 vs Stanford was the difference in that loss. He’s thrown 5 interceptions the last 2:weeks. So the honeymoon appears to be over. Looks like he’s still holding on to the ball too long. Judging from his rushing numbers. Still a upgrade for the Orangeman
Was amazes me about shepherding are the herding dogs.Ive watched several videos of a particular Australian shepherd herding his flock into a corral. And the sheep seem to have a lot of affection for their herding protectors. Saw a video of the herding dog after he fought off several wolves and one by one the sheep gave thanks to their protector.
Amazing what space X and Musk have done in a few short years. How about those astronauts on a one week mission and it has turned into 7-8 month mission. Hopefully they won’t have any long term affects from the extended exposure to a low gravity environment. They’ll definitely have a much longer post flight reconditioning compared to their original mission. I think the worst part will be walking again in gravity. Part of long term exposure to low gravity in space is muscular atrophy from what I’ve read.
I’m certainly glad Mr Smith is on our side. With typical Buckeye luck there’s another super freshman in Ryan Williams for Alabama. I think the 17 year old may hit a harder freshman wall than Jeremiah as the season progresses. That’s even more amazing than whatever Jeremiah is doing the fact that there’s another freshman putting up big numbers. Going to be an interesting season for sure.
Have a great day everyone and hug your loved ones!!!!
Aidan Chiles was the #7 rated QB in the 2023 class,#58 overall rated recruit in the country and signed with Oregon State. Sparty signed him out of the portal. He followed his coach from Oregon State, Jonathan Smith. Like others have said press coverage isn’t the best scenario against a talented athletic QB like Chiles. Keep him front of you and try and get pressure on him and exploit his inaccuracies and decision making.like their Boston College game last week his interceptions really hurt them.
Skull Session Skull Session Skull Session
It’s the band/student pep rally @ St John arena 2 hours and 20 minutes prior to kick off. Really awesome. Players and coaches hype up everyone and the band is adorable.
i think they are referring to the 5 yard face mask penalty they missed on that play. I didn’t think it was a 15 yarder. nonetheless they would have retained possession. to say msu would have won because of that one play is ridiculous. msu still couldn’t stop our offense consistently enough to win.
Johny, part of the problem with the soft linebacker play the last 2 games is partly because we’ve been missing our best space eating DLineman that would usually force a double team freeing up at least one LB to make plays.
Another part of the problem has been Styles and Simon either taking bad angles to the ball carrier or just completely whiffing on tackles @ or near the LOS.Typically your MLB is the best tackler on the defense. Simon missed several tackles in the hole or near LOS allowing some of those chunk plays. One of Simon’s missed tackles was so bad he looked like he was having a seizure legs and arms flailing all over.
Knowles and Johnson were rotating a lot guys early in the first half. i noticed Reese and Lorenzo Styles both getting time in the first half and 3rd quarter.the staff is preparing for a long season and hopefully it will be with both the BTCG and playoffs. 17 games total has been mentioned being a possibility.
It was obvious in the Minnesota vs ttun game that ttun’s depth became an issue in the 2nd half. Either their starters were getting gassed by minnesota's tempo or the backups are not near as good. I don’t see a huge drop off with our back up depth on the front 7 like ttun has this year. Would love to see some situational tempo with our passing game. The only times we looked out of sync is when Kelly was trying to feature Kacmarek too much and the drive killing QB draw on 3-1. although in Kelly’s defense the right side looked open for a big gain for Howard.
Sounds like Sparty was replacing two of their OL with inexperienced players. No wonder the staff decided to keep Williams out another week. Without your best space eater in the middle the last 2 weeks makes a difference for the LB’s. Weld them to 47 yards rushing,1.9 yards a carrie, 2-9 3rd downs and our defenders forced 2 fumbles,4 sacks & 7 TFL. they weren’t unforced errors by the opponent our D did that. I wouldn’t be shocked if they beat big brother in Ann Arbor. Chiles has a pretty good arm.
Wow, thanks Iowa I would never have believed it possible.
That’s a joke right? He picked his Alma Mater every year vs OSU the last 23 years. Didn’t matter how dumb he sounded and was never called out on it.
As see it being close in the first because of the rain. Day will definitely make sure Kelly is conservative on our side of the field. Field position will very important it the weather is as bad as predicted. Hopefully it clears by game time. I could see it ending up 34-17 kind of game.
